Can’t set up
-
I’m unable to set up site kit. I’m on the page that says “connect service Analytics. It’s asking me to select the account information below. The correct account and property are selected but it says “You need to connect the Universal Analytics property that’s associated with this Google Analytics 4 property.” It has a drop down and this property is not on it. I try to select “set up a new property”. It won’t let me do this or move forward. I don’t understand what I’m supposed to do. Can someone give me guidance? Thanks.
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi there @angietops7,
Sorry to hear you’ve been unable to successfully connect the Google Analytics module within Site Kit. So we can understand more on what’s occuring can you share the following:
- When you mention “It has a drop down and this property is not on it” can you confirm that you’ve already create a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property, outside of Site Kit? I ask as the GA4 property dropdown will only display the properties for selection that exist within the Google Analytics account you’ve selected. Assuming you did have a GA4 property created you’ll need to have connected Site Kit using the Google Account associated with that GA4 property.
- When you mention “It won’t let me do this or move forward” if you choose to create a new GA4 property, do you see an error message or warning when trying to create a new GA4 property? If so please share, or provide a screen recording of what’s occurring, using a service such as Loom or RecordIt.
Once we have the above information we can advise on this further, and ensure you are able to connect the Google Analytics module successfully, while selecting a GA4 property.
Hi, thanks for your response.
I have created a property on Google Analytics. When I go to my account, I can see tvstudiodesign.com (UA-0-0). It also says
“This property has no views. Click here to create new views or delete this property.”.
When I click on it, I see
“To start collecting data make sure your website is tagged using the Measurement ID: ETC. ”
(It has a Measurement ID number in there but I don’t know if it’s safe to make it public so I am leaving it out.)
I can not figure out how to add the tagging. When I follow the directions for tagging with wordpress, it indicated I needed Site Kit. However I’m unable to finish the set up process.
I do not see an error message. The button to move forward does not become live. It displayed the correct account name and property, but under that it says
“You need to connect the Universal Analytics property that’s associated with this Google Analytics 4 property.”
I don’t understand what that is asking me to do.
Thanks
Many thanks for the update. It sounds like you’re viewing the property from the Analytics platform directly (analytics.google.com).
If this property, which you’re viewing on the Analytics platform is the property you wish to connect with using Site Kit then I’d be happy to ensure you have this successfully set up. Note that there is already a Universal Analytics property placed on your site, not via Site Kit. This is also tracking visits as expected, when I check your site manually and when I use the tagassistant.google.com service, which you can use yourself to check. Note also that when you mention “I can not figure out how to add the tagging.” you don’t need to manually add the tag, Site Kit does this for you if you wish! In your case there is a valid Universal Snippet manually inserted already.
I’ve also created a video which you’ll find here, on how to connect Analytics within Site Kit. You need to select your preferred Universal Property (UA) type Analytics first, then below it a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property. If you don’t have an existing GA4 property within the same Google Analytics account you can choose to create a new one.
Once you’ve connected Google Analytics feel free to share your Site Health information via this form, and I can check your site setup to confirm all is working as expected with your Site Kit Analytics setup. Or alternatively if you have questions when trying to connect the Google Analytics module let me know.
Looking forward to your response!
Hi James, I am very confused. Is my site ready to collect and display google analytics data? Do I just need to complete the connection in Site Kit? Is that what you’re saying?
If so, I’m still stuck.
I watched your movie. Like I said, on the Site Kit set up it is showing the correct account and property. I see the blue section with the other “property” drop down. The site I’m working with (https://tvstudiodesign.com) is not on it. If I click on “set up a new property” it is not responsive. Nothing happens.
I could use some very specific directions to complete this process.
Thanks so much.
I am facing an error with every website
I am not able to connect site kit with my websites. Every time when I am going to connect with site kit it shows me “missing parameter: ‘code'”
I’ll try to add the image but I am not able to add pictures in this message.
Please help me how to fix it…???
You can check the image here Error Image link
And here is another Error :- Image Link

Hi @digitalanki,
Thanks for the update. We’ll work on the other websites once we’re able to ensure Google Analytics is setup as per your initial support topic, on your tvstudiodesign.com site.
I see the blue section with the other “property” drop down. The site I’m working with (https://tvstudiodesign.com) is not on it. If I click on “set up a new property” it is not responsive. Nothing happens.
The blue GA4 property set up area will only display available Google Analytics 4 properties from within the same selected Google Analytics account. It’s possible that if you did create a GA4 property associated with this site then it could be from another account.
If you’re unable “Set up a new property” from the blue Google Analytics 4 (GA4) options then this could indicate a hosting related problem or something specific to your device or browser.
In order to resolve this you have a couple of options. Firstly you could create a new GA4 property, outside of Site Kit, from analytics.google.com. The full instructions can be found here, however, I’ve made a quick video with the steps involved.
Once you have a GA4 property created you can then revisit your Google Analytics settings with Site Kit, and this property will be available for selection.
Let me know if you need assistance with the above. Hopefully that will allow you to crate a new GA4 property that will be available for selection.
An alternative option is to troubleshoot why your “Set up a new property” option is unresponsive. In order to do this you can attempt set up from another device, using a Chrome browser incognito window. If the same occurs I’ll provide you some suggestions in order to troubleshoot any hosting related blocks.
I am facing an error with every website…
This does sound to me like it’s possible that something at host level is impacting set up. If you want to open a separate support topic we can investigate this individually, rather than troubleshoot different issues at once from the same topic.
I’ll keep an eye out for your new topic! And please let me know how you get on with the GA4 property set up as suggested above.
@angietops7 Apologies, I mistakenly mentioned another user in your last response. The suggestions I provided above do, however, apply to your own site.
Note also in relation to your question “Is my site ready to collect and display google analytics data?“, your website is already being tracked with Analytics, on a Universal Type Analytics property.
Connecting Site Kit will ensure you can view Site Kit data within the Site Kit dashboard, without having to leave your wp-admin panel. Connecting Site Kit to a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property will also allow you to start collecting data on the connected GA4 property, as well as the already connected UA property.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
@digitalanki If you want to open an individual support topic in relation to your set up issues we’d be happy to assist.
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
