• I have a page I want as the home page. I sent into Settings > Reading and select the page to use.

WordPress ignores this and instead shows a page with a handful of “posts”.

I found a support page about front-page.php but that page does not exist in my installation so I don’t see how that would override the setting.

I have tried going to the default theme… same result.

I have disabled all plugins… same result.

How do I set a static home page????

Tara that is what I already reviewed and tried. I am not doing a blog posts front page. Setting for Reading to static page should work unless you have a front-page.php which I don’t have in my directories anywhere.

    So still stuck.

Hi, torrid33, I’ve found that creating a custom home page template like my-home.php is the most useful solution, this way you can have whatever you want on your home page, posts, static page content, or both. Just make sure to select the my-home template for your home page in the home page edit screen in the “page attributes” meta box. Hope this helps. Good luck!
