    Hi,

I have a local wordpress installation (localhost). I’d like to send emails from this local installation. So I have installed your plugin, which now requires to create Client ID and Client Secret via Google OAuth. However, I am unable to create such credentials because GOogle API does not accept “localhost” as domain name. What can I do? Which type of Google credentials should I request when I am prompted to Google OAuth?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

Great question, and you have a couple of options here:

    1) If your local server has a way to adjust your URL, then you can make it appear to have a “real” domain.

For example, one of my local test sites (which I set up with a free program called Local by Flywheel) is assigned a domain like “https://wpf-testing.com”. So that way, it looks like a regular URL and Google accepts it. However, the site is still only local.

    2) You could use the Other SMTP mailer instead (here’s the setup tutorial).

I hope that one of these helps! ??

    Hi Andrew,

We haven’t seen any other questions from you here in a couple of weeks, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation!

    Thanks ??
