I did some searching in the forum, but I’m coming up empty on this.

I’m using the most recent free version of the plugin. My Facebook feed isn’t showing up correctly. The error message is #190, “Error validating application. Invalid application ID.”

So I checked out the errors message and what I should do to fix it. It says, “Please click the button on the Facebook Options Page of our plugin to get your own Page Access Token. APP ID’s are no longer valid for use in creating a feed.”

Went back to may page and did as it said. However, I get to the point where I’m told, “Click on a page in the list below and it will add the Page ID and Access Token above, then click save.” But I can’t click anything. So I can’t fix the error. If I save it just keeps giving me the same error.

I’m on Windows 10 machine. Tried this in Chrome and Firefox. No luck.

I tried removing and reinstalling the app from WordPress. I removed and reinstalled the app from Facebook. No luck.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi @enrichscience,

You may need to start by going into your personal Facebook account, click settings then Business Integrations and remove SlickRemix. Then follow the steps below.

In order for our plugin to access Facebook, new API requirements that FB has put in place need to be met.

    1) The FB Page needs to be a FB Business Page (as FB no longer grants access for FB personal, Group, Event or Community pages to be displayed).

    2) You also need Admin privileges for whichever FB Business Page you are trying to gain an access token. (*this one is a common hiccup, as FB has put in a new requirement that the person granting Admin privileges and the person receiving Admin privileges must be “FB friends” in order to complete this Admin privilege protocol fully).

    3) Once the above two steps have been met, in your WordPress dashboard, go to Feed Them > Facebook Options and click on the FB banner/button. You will then be led through the prompts to attain an access token. (*you must login through your personal FB account, not through the FB Business Page). Once the prompts have returned you, your FB Business Page should be listed. Click on the page and then click the ‘Save’ button.

    4) Back in your WordPress dashboard, go to Feed Them > Settings > Facebook Feed to generate a new shortcode

    5) After you update/publish, you may need to clear the FTS cache for the changes to take effect. You may need to clear any caching plugins you have running as well.

If the above steps have not resolved the issue, it’s possible that another plugin or theme may be interfering.

Try deactivating all other plugins besides the Feed Them Social plugins temporarily. Then test to see if it works. If this works, try reactivating them, one by one, to see which one is causing the issue.

If deactivating all plugins doesn’t help the issue try switching themes to one of the default WordPress themes then look at the page (this can be done under the Appearance tab of your install). It’s possible the theme is causing errors.

Let me know how it goes.
