Can't Select Facebook Page

Yes, i did the full oAuth process and gave all the permissions: https://cl.ly/1k3K082d1L2k
And yes i’m an admin of the page and this page is enabled for Instant Articles.

I remember, that there was a warning in the auth process regarding submitting for review: https://cl.ly/022F3J2z3s1O

I did submit my app for review, but the reviewer told me, that for my purpose (using the WP plugin), there is no need for that.

Yes WordPress shows as an app, am Page Admin too

The strange thing is that my ‘submitted articles’ have gone through to FB via RSS – there’s a style problem, and so the second submission is currently under review – also as a logged in FB Page admin, examples of the real FB Instant Articles are appearing on my Facebook Page (not for non-admins) – so one would assume it ‘knows’ my page – yes I think in the past I had selected the page, it’s just that now it doens’t either show the page in Plugin settings, or let me check with the Login to FB button.

The point on trying to resolve the URL to FB I understand – but it doesn’t go any further than back to the Plugin settings again you see.

Off topic, but will the plugin help with style options or will a user in future need to add markup within the FB IA edit function?

Hey Paulo,

I appreciate the response as I’m sure there’s plenty of errors coming up that were unexpected.

My app shows up fine in Facebook Apps, Admin, open to all, etc so it’s all connecting.

I’ve even put the Facebook IA feed in and articles are coming over into the Instant Articles Production line (unpublished).

We’ve created 9 news apps just to see if that would help and while it takes us longer through the Login With Facebook process, it never gets us to the finish line. That’s been a strange one trying to figure out why it won’t connect as we’ve gotten everything else in place and Facebook is getting the articles via the RSS feed.

I’m through submission and accepted now – so when publishing article in Facebook – Facebook says ‘Live’ – then obviously the article doesn’t appear on my page because of the ‘Can’t connect to Page’ error

So as gooma2 says all is well except this last issue

I’m running now and have been able to select the Facebook Page on 2.9 – I can’t explain how it’s started working –

I’m sure this is irrelevant (I’m not a skilled dev) but i toggled off Yoast Analytics in the plugin settings (3rd party integrations)- saved – then toggled it back on – saved – and suddenly it worked – allowed me to select page – error gone

– html missing error remains though but that may be not a problem

Although the article isn’t showing on my Facebook Page yet despite this – am I right in saying you just go to the ‘library’ of articles and click ‘publish’ (this is what the FB docs say) – you then get the ‘Live’ flag – the article should be pushed to your chosen Facebook Page then?

I have the latest WordPress Instant Article Plugin (3.01) but it seems like this problem is still occurring.

I’ve set up everything. I’ve entered the app id and secret and that works. Right after, I am able to log in using my Facebook, I give FB permission, and everything seems to work but it takes me right back to the Facebook login button.

Nothing happens after that, and I am unable to select the Page i want to use for Instant articles. Every time i click the Facebook login button again, it just refreshes. How do I fix this? I’ve tried everything already.

I’m in the same boat as @joshupdoc now. I’ve had success on getting these set up in other sites, but now I’ve run into this issue for the first time.

Could it be due to not being the “creator” of the page? I have admin level of a page for this particular site. I’m also a creator of pages for other sites that I manage, and I’m able to see all of those in their particular site.

Example: bingham.design – is my site. I can see the FB page I manage for my site, along with 2 others that I have admin permissions on. Oddly enough, one of those pages I didn’t create.

I posted this same issue several months ago. Still no solution.

How on earth can we use instant articles if the plugin does not allow us to select a page on a fresh install of wordpress? Already tried disabling all plugins etc. It works on our test server, but not on our proper site. Super annoying. Have been waiting months on a reply..
