Can't Select Database – Frustrating Error
-
I’m moving my wordpress site from one hosting to another not changing URLs so first I got the “error establishing a database connection” but I manage to fix that, but now I get this error:
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the ortega_wpov database.
Are you sure it exists?
Does the user adminortega have permission to use the ortega_wpov database?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_ortega_wpov. Could that be the problem?
If you don’t know how to set up a database you should contact your host. If all else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums. So I’m going to answer those questions:
1. In myphpadmin it shows the database and I’ve already populated importing the data from the other host, it also shows on the MySQL Databases in Cpanel.
2. Yes user adminortega has the permissions (ALL) when I created the database, it shows in cpanel MySQL Databases that the user adminortega has full access to ortega_wpov
3. I don’t know about this but in my config.php I wrote the name exactly as it shows up in myphpadmin and MySQL Databases in cpanel, I’m using GoDaddy. So I’m frustrated and stuck in this issue can someone help me.
