So, going the cheap route, I hired a designer on Fiverr to customize our Divi theme and he did a decent job: https://digitalrust.vc/

We’re launching a podcast, so I asked the designer to design a page for the podcast, for which he also did a decent job: https://digitraltrust.vc/breaking-silos/

That was all before I figured out about the need an RSS feed for this podcast. Now I need to tie it all together.

I do have a feed now that validates: https://digitaltrust.vc/feed/podcast/

But nowhere on the podcast page do I see any subscription links for viewers to find their favorite podcast source. How can/do I get those links to show up on that custom page? Or has the designer built something incompatible that needs to be replaced?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

To put a subscribe box on that page, use the shortcode [powerpress_subscribe]

To read more about that, scroll down in the “Website” tab of PowerPress settings. Also, see the Playlist shortcode. That might work for you on that page as well.

I’m not a developer, but I tried adding that shortcode to the existing page and made a mess of things. What the Divi visual editor displays, which would be fine, is not anything like what actually appears on the page after saving it.

Where can I go for help with this? I just want the subscribe links to show up on the bottom of the page, don’t need a player or anything else.

    Thanks!

Divi is a complex theme that adds a lot of its own functionality on top of core WordPress. No one in Blubrry support has extensive knowledge of Divi, so it’s difficult for us to advise on Divi-related matters.

If your web designer can’t help, your best bet would be to contact Divi support. Tell them what you’re trying to do and what shortcode you’re trying to use. They may have some advice on how to make it work.

Thanks Shawn. Divi is the most common WordPress theme (apparently) and PowerPress the most common podcast plugin (apparently), I’m susprised they don’t play nicer together than they do.

I’ll try to find a web designer who can figure this out. Thanks.

    Rufftimo,

Divi version 4 has a bug in it that causes issues with the Podcast Posts. The work around is to install an older version of divi builder OR just do not use divi to publsih podcast posts. (pages are ok). I have a ticket in with the people that make Divi and so far have not heard back.

Well, I’m not able to get that far to see the bug, I wish. I’m usually self-sufficient with these kinds of things, and have taught myself Divi, but am struggling with PowerPress. Here’s a few of my obstacles:

    1. When validating my feed for Apple, it says my artwork wasn’t downloaded even though I’d added it and it satisfies the requirements (3000 x 3000 jpg). I wish the feed validator gave me some way to re-attach or re-upload the artwork.

    2. I can’t find an episodes tab in settings and can’t figure out how to see or change what the feed sees, or what’s already been uploaded.

    3. Because of 2, I deleted PowerPress and re-installed it, hoping that I could start over, but after re-installation PowerPress remembered everything from before, I had no way to restart.

    4. When I first installed PowerPress I did an import from Buzzsprout, hoping to move my first podcast episodes to my own WP installation before doing any marketing, but with the feed validation one thing still shows it’s with Buzzsprout: SSL cert is with episodes.buzzsprout.com.

Is there a way a novice like me can fight through all this to manage my podcast in PowerPress or do I need to hire a professional? It’s not as easy as the marketing materials make it sound (at least for me).

There are a lot of things going on and not all of them are Divi related.

    Thanks!
