• Hi everyone,

I’m facing a very strange issue in wordpress 4.9. I have quite a few images in my media library however when I choose an image the media library is completely blank.

On my admin page when I go to the media tab and switch to a list view I can see all the images just fine.

Furthermore examine the console reveals no errors instead admin-ajax.php gives me a successful response with the id and url of all the images within my library. Despite that nothing shows up on my media screen. It remains completely blank.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue. What can I do to correctly diagnose and fix this error?

    Thanks,
    Akshat

  • I have exactly the same problems since the latest updates. I have WP version 4.9.2. I cannot see any media files, and my pages are not displaying images either. I use Thrive Architect to create pages. I have tried disabling all the plugins and changed the theme, with the same result. I also have a problem with Amazon products being displayed on the sites too. It looks like the problem is with wordpress updates.

I wonder if there is a plugin that can sync your uploads with your media library. More than half of my images cannot be seen, although they are in the uploads directory.

This issue just started for me after upgrade as well.

This happened to me as well. Here is what I did to fix it.
I deactivated WP All In One Security plugin and the images were back. I reactivated the plugin and everything went back to normal.

I have the same issue on 2 sites. These 2 sites are test environments that are duplicates of my main websites but I do not dare to update anything on my main websites…I have deactivated all of the plugins and did a rollback to WordPress 4.8 and the issue still persists. I can only see the library on list mode but I cannot upload anything or see the library when I create a post.

could you share you admin-ajax.php result from network panel. I have also face this error after using wordpress theme unit test. At end of my theme’s functions.php unit test added img tag.

I have the same issues since many month! Did no one find out what causes that issue?

    Hi everyone,

    I have the same issue.
Can’t load the media in grid. If I upload I have a HTTP Error.
I can’t load images in a page or article. Same erreor HTTP.

Is it related or any idea ?

    Thanks

Still no resolution to this topic???? Where are you WP? So many of us with this problem where is the fix?

I reinstalled WordPress at a previous version and it resolved my problem.
Then I updated and everything is ok now.

    Thanks

I am having this very same issue, now in WP v4.9.7.

    – Media library is displaying a blank page uner the main Media toolbar and the ‘wheel’ on the righthand side continues to spin.
    – Media will display in List mode, but not in Grid mode
    – Image is not displayed when entring EDIT mode
(I also have a copy of this site as a local install on my laptop and it doesn’t suffer the same problem)

There are no PHP errors displayed on the page and I get no JS errors in console.

    TEMPORARY FIX >

After reading up on various blogs/sites, I have added ‘ob_start();’ to the very first line of WP-CONFIG.PHP file which enabled media library to function again, but I really have no idea what this does and feels like a hack [that shouldn’t remain permanent].

Personally I have no idea how to fault-find this, so any other help would be much appreciated.

    Hi all,

Has anyone or WordPress found a fix to this? My website, too, is in a bad shape because of this peculiar issue. It is not letting me do 60% of things that I used to do smoothly for years.

A solution would be greatly appreciated ?? This is distressing.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
had the same issues and couldn’t find a solution. Media wouldn’t show thumbnails but everything was there. I actually solved this. The issue for my website was connected to standard wordpress memory of 64MB, so I changed my wp-config.
Here are very useful links to do that:

    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/fix-wordpress-memory-exhausted-error-increase-php-memory/
    https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-edit-wp-config-php-file-in-wordpress/
    Worked like a charm.

Hope it works for you too.
