• Hi guys I’ve just installed a freshly downloaded version of WordPress to a new blog.

There is one problem. In the Appearance section of the Dashboard if I click on Themes I don’t get the current theme preview. This is also the case for Twentyten. It does not appear to affect the running of the blog in any other way.

Any suggestions as to what might be going on here. I’ve never ran across this problem before.

As a matter of interest as this is just a fresh blog I’ve uninstalled it and wiped the database twice but still the same problem.

    Any suggestions

    Kevin

    have you tried:

-deactivating all plugins. If the problem goes away, activate them individually to find the culprit?

If you don’t have access to to your admin area, try deactivating them manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.

-switching to the default theme (Twenty Ten) by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes to rule out any theme-specific issue?

If you don’t have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

-If the above steps do not resolve the issue, Download WordPress again and replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies. This should replace your core files without changing your content and settings in wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory.

Note that some uploaders may not overwrite files reliably, so delete the original files before replacing them.

-if that does not resolve the issue, try increasing memory available for php.

t-p thanks for the advice. No further on.

As there wasn’t much on the blog I deleted the entire database (drop) and deleted all files via ftp on my server. Downloaded and reinstalled a fresh copy of WordPress, all in that order.

At present I have nothing on the blog except the welcome post and the two plugins that come as standard. When I go to Themes, the only one of course is the default theme still no preview.

I know I can go on ahead without seeing the preview but just in case it catches up with me sometime down the road I’d like to sort it out now if possible.

    Anyone got suggestions?
