• The message:

“Akismet has caught 8 spam for you since you first installed it. You have no spam currently in the queue. Must be your lucky day. ?? “

But when i click on “manage – askimet spam” not a single comment is displayed. I haven’t found the comments in the database either.

Seems to be the same error as reported here

My blog has been online only for a few weeks and spammers might not have discovered it yet, so I’m not sure if these comments are spam.

No way to find/restore these comments?

No replies… So, it seems to be a bug?

If you clear your ‘spam queue’ (that is, deleted the previous spam), then there are no spam messages to manage. In other words, when Akismet reports “You have no spam currently in the queue.” then you shouldn’t see any.

The “Akismet has caught 8 spam” part merely means Akismet keeps track of how many messages it detects and blocks as spam.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve never deleted anything. I just saw this message “Akismet has caught 8 spam” and wanted to find out what messages have been caught. But this wasn’t possible.

    Ok, now I’ve deactivated Askimet.

but it keeps those 8 messages stored in the database. Do you know where in a standard install of wordpress they are stored in the database?

AFAIK, the only place in the db with any info about akismet is wp-options.

On my install wp 2.1.2 akismet puts the comments it blocks under the Comments heading, right next to the comments waiting to be moderated. Not under Options.

I’ve been having the same problem as nomad1.
I activated Askimet a week or two ago, and it reports having caught over 500 spam messages, but until today absolutely none were showing under the Comments section. Today 4 spam comments showed up. Would love to check the 500+ others to see if any *real* comments are trapped there. And no, I have not deleted any.

Any advice on how to see the invisible spam appreciated…..

Don’t forget that Akismet automatically deletes spam after two weeks. If you haven’t checked it by then, it’s gone for good.

Same problem here. I’m running WP 2.2.1 on a private server, Akismet 2.0.2 just freshly re-installed, it says there are 214 spam today when there were 212 yesterday, but zero show up in the Comments spam queue. for as long as I’ve been running my blog with akismet (about two years?) this has never worked for me.
