Hi, I can’t see the attachments in my invoice single, this is the expected behavior? I need to attach a government doc called Nota Fiscal, here in Brazil, within my invoice, this is the expected behavior or attachments should be displayed?

    Hi Allyson,

Where are you trying to expose the attachment? On the Client Portal? (Client side?)

Yes, in the client portal. I figured it looks like it’s not available in free version, that’s right? If it is, I’m sad and will have to change my review (saiyng it’s a really no Bullsh*t CRM), will be a great disapointment. Even more than the price of pro (bundle or modules) is not affordable for small business.

    Hi Allyson,

Mike here, let me explain how the “attachments” work in the CRM, and what is available via the Portal.

Firstly, customers and invoices have always had the ability to attach files to them, this is to cover the scenario where you may (as a CRM team member) want to attach additional info to the invoice (such as the Quote PDF). The same goes for the contact, the ability to attach key information (and optionally, allow them to download the files)

As for actual files being available to the customer for them to download, yes this is part of Client Portal Pro, which on its own is $79 a year (under $7 a month, equivalent), some CRMs (not naming names, run into the $2k per month range).

It’s intended for example, photographers wanting to put example photos up so a Client could see, or a web designer to share initial mock ups, etc. You could also use it for your Nota Fiscal on their portal under “key documents”

What could work for you, if c$7 a month is too expensive, would be to edit the Invoice Email so that it sends a publically available link to your Nota Fiscal document (which they’d access from the link).

    Hi @mikemayhem3030,

I understand your point, but for some countries to attach a file is not something “optional”, but it’s something that is necessary, a CRM that don’t do that is useless. I don’t want to attach photos or quotes, but we need to attach legal documents. If I need just Portal Pro, I agree, it’s not too expensive, $7 month, but I’m not sure I’ll need just that, and compared to tools we use to development, not just for administrative purposes, I still think it’s expensive. (At least you dont charge per user, that’s worst)

And sure, I have the habilities to develop an extension, change your plugin to show attachments in my portal, or send it trough email, I’m not worried about that, I just think it’s something that would be available in free version. If I see the attachment field, I can attach files, and I can send an email with my invoice link, I expect it to be displayed in the portal, that’s my point. If it’s a pro feature, at my point of view we should neither have an attachment field in the panel, it leads users to mistakes.

Thanks for the feedback, as mentioned, initially the “attach file” was designed to compliment the invoice with admin only attachments, and we used to have it so it would attach the uploaded file to the invoice email (but that’s fallen away recently since we re-did the whole system emails – plus we had some users accidentally attach files, not aware they would be emailed as an attachment)

This is still something we want to offer, though, the ability to upload additional files related to the invoices.

If you need extra on top of the client portal pro, the full Entrepreneur Bundle is on offer at $199 (c$17 a month, roughly) which is still much cheaper than a lot of online versions (and other WP CRM’s too). You can always start off with the Client Portal Pro, then if you find you want more, upgrade to the bundle (it will deduct the price you paid for the portal, if you upgrade)

I wrote a slide pack here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/your-crm-self-hosted-saas-michael-stott/ which might be of interest.

There’s also different views of what should be “free” and what should be “premium” and if we made “just the little things free” like you’re saying here, for all 900+ active users (and counting) then it would end up not being a product we can continue to support. There’s already a LOT in there for free (without per user limits, or contact numbers limits)
