Hi. I have an old site that had VC v35.1
I’m able to edit pages visually fine (latest WP v6.1.1).
However, iThemes reported a security issue, so I tried to update a staging copy to 45.1.1. The site displays fine, but when I try to edit, I see the VC sidebar, but all I see in the editing area are the header and footer (no VC content).
I tried various other versions, but only up to 38.1 allows me to actually edit the content.
All the rows appear to exist in Tree View.
When I press “+” and try to drag a new element on to the page, it won’t let me drop it anywhere.
If I press save, the page content does disappear from the front end too, so it’s as if it’s not loading any content.
If I create a completely new page, VC seems to function normally.
Was there a big change after that, perhaps meaning I have to rebuild the site?
Or is there a new setting I have to turn on somewhere?
Note: ALL plugins disabled apart from VC and using the latest VC starter theme.

    Hi,

The 35.1 version was released in March 2021. However, there were no major changes made which can cause such an issue.
Are you getting any errors in the browser console on pages where the editor is failing to render? It will be also helpful if you can activate the debug mode and check if there are any errors that are being displayed on pages where the issue occurs.

    Console errors:

    And many others.

    I’ve tried:
    Pressing “initiate reset”
Deactivating and deleting the plugin and downloading again.

    PHP 7.4.15 | Apache/2.4.29 (Ubuntu) | MySQL 10.2.44-MariaDB-1:10.2.44+maria~bionic

I enabled debug and debug logging, but no errors are displayed on the screen when trying to edit the page and no log file is created.

When I roll back to 38.1, there are no console errors.

My previous post was put in the moderation queue (presume because I pasted in the error codes), but yes there are 58 console errors for element.bundle.js and index.php?vcv-script=vendor&ver=45.1.1:2:2416177

The VC status page has all green ticks (apart from the debug line now)

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, the console errors do not seem to give an idea about the problem.

I would request you to kindly drop us a ticket via the official support channel: https://help.visualcomposer.com/support regarding the issue.
