Hi, I’m running Google Site Kit on my site, and the Site Kit settings page indicates that Analytics, Optimize and Tag Manager are all connected. Within the Analytics section of Site Kit settings it says “Snippet is inserted” (and “IP addresses are not being anonymized”).

However when I view page source on my site, all I can see is the tag manager snippet; I cannot see my analytics snippet.

I confirmed this using the third party tool https://www.gachecker.com/ which could only see the google tag manager snippet.

I thought I would be able to see the google analytics snippet on my site given that site kit says “Snippet is inserted” for Analytics. Please advise?

    Thanks,
    James

Thanks for reaching out. From inspecting your site I can see a valid Analytics snippet placed on your site.

While I can’t be sure how the GAChecker website works can you check your site once more from a Chrome browser incognito window, while not logged in?

Aaah thanks James, appreciate that. I think I was lacking some technical understanding in how to find that valid Analytics snippet, appreciate the screenshot.

Just opened an incognito window, not logged in, and using GAChecker it still reports no Analytics tags. Who knows, maybe some kind of problem at their end?

    Cheers,
    James

No problem at all, happy to help. Can you also view the Analytics snippet on your site at present?

You can also use the Tag Assistant Chrome Extension to locate the snippet. From a quick inspection of the GAChecker on my side I’m not sure if the service displays all variations of Analytics snippets.

I see, using the tag assistant extension I see “Global site tag (gtag.js)” so that seems to confirm it, thanks James.

(It also says “No Google Analytics HTTP responses because opted out code detected.” but I understand that’s something happening locally on my machine; not sure what’s causing that)

Great, that confirms a successful setup!

This is normal if you’re using Site Kit with a default configuration – with the opt out code referring to not counting logged in users. If you check your site while not logged in this shouldn’t appear.

Be sure to get in touch if you have any further Site Kit queries. And if you have a moment share your plugin feedback, we’d love to hear how you’re making use of the plugin.
