Can’t “scan” products after selecting a customer

When you search for a customer and select it, the barcode scan feature stop working, it just selects the last customer selected.
I have no barcode scanner, but I type the SKU and press enter (like a barcode scanner would do) but the product doesn’t get added to the list of buying products, it just selects the last customer selected.
