    Hi @jeremybeckett

“Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.” errors are caused by many things specifically or combination of things like the ff:

the reasons for that error can be many, from a problem with the Permalinks; from a custom structure causing an issue or simply Rebuilding those in Settings > Permalinks –> Save Changes may fix it. Other issues can be localised to do with the server permissions, SSL / Mixed Content ( ie. HTTP URL instead of HTTPS ). Or it could be some ‘bad’ code.

For the specific page where this error occurs, were you using other shortcodes from other plugins?

To debug, can you try disabling ALL plugins except WPSP and try again if the error still occurs?

Hi, and thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I have rebuilt the permalinks (changed it to another format and saved, then changed it back to the original and saved – is that what you mean?) and tried to save the page with the WPSP shortcode in it but the same error came up.

There are no other shortcodes on the page – it’s literally just the WPSP shortcode.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a test site setup, and the live site is too heavily trafficked to shutdown all the plugins and test the WPSP one ??

That’s just one part. There may be other things that’s causing the issue.

It’s going to be really difficult to debug when we can’t toggle things to find conflicts as there’s a lot of things to check.

You may also need to ask the site’s hosting about potential server permissions settings that may be causing it.
