    Dear Support
It seems that the phone field of the contact-settings doesnt accept numbers that start with “00”. When saving the number all the “0” at the beginning of the number get ignored and the number is saved without the zeros. The country code i.e. for germany is +49 or 0049. Leaving the “+” or “00” out works on most whatsapp clients but not on all. The chrome browser on a Mac shows the message “The number in the URL is not valid” (translated from german).
How can i save the number with “00” at the beginning?
Thanks a lot for your help!

@filterladen Hello mate, we believe that it was a temporary problem in the WhatsApp API, could you tell us if the problem has been solved and it correctly redirects the conversation in whatsapp?

    Regards.

    Dear @jmatiasmastro
Unfortunately the Problem still persists. On some browsers (i.e. Chrome Browser on macOS 12.6.1) the whatsapp web client shows the message that the number is not valid. As described in my initial post, the zeros at the beginning of the number gets cut out when saving the phone number in the field. The alternative format with the “+” at the beginning does not get accepted.
Can you confirm that numbers beginning with zeros or “+” cannot be saved?

@filterladen Hi mate, we have added a Whatsapp number from Germany to our plugin in localhost and it is working correctly.

In this case, the “country code” must go without zeros.

    Dear jmatiasmastro

Did you test the issue with the WhatsApp Web App on Chrome Browser for Mac?

It seems to be a browser issue. The best solution would be to add the zeros at the beginning of the number, which actually is the official format. That way it will work on all clients.

Can you check this with your developers?

    Thanks and best regards

Or alternatively is there a way to hook into the function and prepend the “00” at the beginning of the paramter in the link?

@filterladen Hi mate, if you wish you can contact us through our fan page https://www.facebook.com/quadlayers/, since we cannot reproduce the error on localhost and due to WordPress policies we cannot share data here personal information such as phone numbers to be able to carry out some tests. Regards.
