Can't "Save Image As…" when using this plugin
-
Hi,
I have just installed the plugin successfully, however I note that I am now unable to use the “Save Image As…” when I right click on the images. Is there a way to get around this?

Hi,
unfortunately I don’t know a way to get around this issue, at least for now. Once the image is hovered, a span that covers the image becomes visible (this span makes the image look transparent) and since this span is on top of the image, the possibility to “Save image as” isn’t available because you’re hovering the span, not the image.
Is there a way to remove the span so the Pinit image still shows (I don’t care if the image looks transparent) and so the “save image as” works?
I just wanted to chime in here and say that I agree with csburdick and nh999 that it would be awesome if “Save As” could still work. In the blogging community we get a lot of traffic from other people featuring and linking back to us. Without the Save As function it is difficult for other people to share our images, and I’ve even been told by others that they were planning to feature but ended up not doing it because they couldn’t save the image down. I have a friend who has a hard coded Pin It button that does not have this issue. I wonder how they accomplish it? Here is her website: https://www.vintagerevivals.com/
Anyway I otherwise LOVE this plugin but hate to choose between having the pluging functionality and Save As.
I’m now using the native Pin It button but it’s not as good, you can see it on any post like this one: https://bit.ly/13CQX7G
You can see the button hovers above the image. The problem is that this plugin creates a new layer on top of the image, which removes the ability to right-click, apparently.
Sorry for answering after 2 months ..
For now, there isn’t an option to remove that layer on top of the image. It’s there mainly because it’s (at least for now) the only way I know to easily position (left-top, middle, etc.) the pin it button on the image using CSS. The transparency effect could be added to the image itself, but without that layer it would be pretty difficult to position the button (I would be able to allow users to choose from only few predefined options without the possibility of customizing anything, plus I’m not sure it would work properly in all cases).
For now, the only solution I can think of when it comes to allowing users to save the image is to add an option to place a download link on that top layer, so the user would be able to right click it and ‘save as’. I’m not sure if it’s a good solution for the problem, what do you think?
I have stopped using your plug-in because I agree with bhirschi. Between the Pinterest button and the ability to right-click and save an image, the latter wins. Please do let me know when you have this problem fixed, and I’ll reactivate your plug-in. I really like it except for this one issue.
Thanks for the reply and willingness to work on this with us. For me, that’s not really a good solution, I think it would kind of ruin the look of everything. I think your plugin is good, and for people that don’t mind not being able to right-click it’s a good solution. Otherwise I’d recommend people use the native Pinterest hover-over JS. It’s not as pretty or as functional as this plugin’s solution but it’s the only option if you need right-click.
Thanks again!
I’m not familiar with the “native Pinterest hover-over JS”. Can you point me in the right direction?

Then click on “Image Hover” under “Button Type”
Hi, I’m having the same issue. This plugin is a lot less glitchy than pinterest pin it button for images, but the save as functionality would be very good.
Thanks so much for chiming in — one of the reasons I’ve loved this plugin is that you guys are so responsive to feedback, and I really appreciate it!
I’d love to know what the others think, but I would be willing to bet most of us would be willing to lose the ability to pick which corner the button is in in order to be able to have the Save-As functionality? Did I read that right that this was the functionality that would be lost — like you’d have to pick a corner for it?? If that’s the case I’d say that would be a great way to go. I think for the most part users don’t care a great deal about which corner — sure if you give me that option I’d choose one but if the plugin just had a specific corner it was always in, I don’t think it would have bothered me for a second.
However, since you HAVE had that functionality I’m not sure what the reaction would be like. Perhaps if they knew they were gaining the Save-As function back that would help??
I don’t know if you have any way of knowing which corner is the most popular option and then go with that. Not sure why but it seems like to me the lower-right is most common?
Anyway… hope this helps. Again I really appreciate you weighing in on this.
Thanks all for your feedback.
I hope I figured out a pretty good solution to the problem – the next version of the plugin will have two modes – static ( that works like v1.00) and dynamic that allows image download.
Because of that, I had to remove the “custom” option from button position option in visual settings (so now there are only 5 options: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right and middle). I’m pretty sure that some people used the “custom” option, so I added an option to adjust the margins. This way most people (I hope so) who used the custom setting will be able to have the button where they had it before.
Thanks again for help.
@mrsztuczkens- When will the new version of the plugin be available? It sounds like the solution to this problem will be great! Thanks!
Hi @iwashyoudry
The new version is now available. Image download is only available in ‘dynamic’ mode (set it in visual settings). Hope it’ll work as it supposed to.
Works great for me. Thanks.
