    Hi,

I’m contacting you because I’m having a problem building my form.

    Setup:
    WordPress 6.2
    Theme: Astra 4.1.3
    Elementor Pro: 3.12.1

When I add the “dropdown” field, the form can’t be saved anymore and the preview doesn’t work anymore.
All I have to do is remove the “selective list” field for the form to work again.
The problem persists even when I create a new form with only the “dropdown” field.
Do you have any idea where the problem could come from?

I disabled all plugins except Forminator and the problem is still present.

I tried with another theme “Twenty Twenty-Three” and the problem is still present.

In the console of my browser appears the message:
” to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 () “

I remain at your disposal to provide any further information.

    Thanks in advance
    Sincerely, Steven

  • Can you make a backup of the file /wp-content/uploads/forminator/.htaccess and then try removing the line Options -ExecCGI from it to to see if that helps? That is what recently became a big problem for many of the websites we manage for clients (see ticket).

If it does not help, don’t forget to add it back in.

    @neejoh

    Thanks for your help,
I removed the line “Options -ExecCGI” in the htaccess file however the problem is still present.

I tried to export the form and import it on another site with the same configuration (Theme and plugins) and I don’t encounter the problem.

The only difference between the two sites is the host. I will contact my host’s support to find out if the problem could be with the hosting.

    Sincerely,
    Steven

    Hi @sticka45

Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

It is possible the hosting WAF is blocking any of the dropdown values or query

Can you please click on the right button of the mouse > inspect, switch to the network tab, clear it all, and then try to save the form again?

The first admin-ajax result should be returning a different status other than 200 in your case, switch to “Preview Tab” for that request, it will probably show up if the server WAF is blocking the request.

If so, kindly ask for your hosting, the log so we can verify why it is happening.

    Best Regards

    Hi @wpmudevsupport12 ,
    Thank you for your reply,

I clear all in the networks tab and I tried to save the form but I got the error message “An error occurred while saving your form. Try Again.” And the line admin-ajax.php which also reappears.

    Hello @sticka45 ,

That does look like something is blocking requests on the server side. Did your hosting provider respond regarding this? They should have logs that will show whats blocking it.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hi @wpmudev-support2

I opened a support ticket last week, they answered me this morning

their response “After checking, it seems to be related to the fact that the code generated by this action is similar to the code used in some attacks. For this reason, the action was blocked by our web filters”

They disabled the filter just for this action, and the form works again with dropdowns ??

    Good day
    best regards,
    Steven
