• I can’t save any changes done to wordpress and can’t use some of the tools (open up woocommerce product list, use Visual Composer and some other tools). Every time I attempt that, I get an 408 request timeout error. I can go on website without any issues, can go to dashboard and even change any settings, but as soon as I press “save changes”, it doesn’t load up and gives me that error. I have a hosting plan with unlimited bandwith, so doubt it’s that. I have contacted my website host and they said it’s most likely an issue with my theme or some plugin. I have disabled all plugins and set my theme to default, but still have the same issue.
I also don’t think it’s my internet connection. 1 minute after last failed attempt to update my website, I have done an internet speed check and it came back with ~180 Mb/s download and ~110 Mb/s upload speed result.
I have tried saving changes on 3 different platforms – chrome, firefox and IE, none of them seem to work. Additionally I have tried this on windows (10), Linux and Mac. All operating systems have the same exact issue.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I reinstalled wordpress via ftp and over written to fix the issue.
