Can't revert development version to stable on production server/domain

    Been using 4.0.1 development version on my testing server and would like to change back to normal version for public use.

    Migrating to the domain was fine but I cannot seem to get rid of the development version no matter what I do. I tried extracting the latest stable WordPress zip (without wp-content and wp-config) into the FTP over-writing the development version files but still it displays the “You are using a development version (4.0.1). Cool! Please stay updated at the bottom right.” I even tried renaming version number in wp-includes/version.php so I could download it through the WordPress Admin panel but still I get the same “You are using a development version (4.0.1). Cool! Please stay updated message on the bottom right.”

    Is there something I need to change in my database file?
