so, i have tried the wp tutorial, followed instructions online from other people, basically saying the exact same thing as wp and even watched a few videos on how to do it. i tried to move my wp files into a different folder and use that directory, still didn’t work. i don’t know what i’m doing wrong considering i have followed the instructions exactly on every single one of these posts on how to do it and my website still has the /wp on the end of it. i tried doing it on filezilla and cpanel to see if it made a difference but neither one fixed it. oh, my site is girlspeaksgeek.com i even made sure it wasn’t just my pc by using my phone and my husband’s phone to look at the site, but it doesn’t make a difference. please help, thank you.

it actually says you do not have permission to access this page on the wp-admin…when i restored the back up it gave me the index.php but then there’s also the new one…do i need to delete one of them?

Email your host and ask them to help with with restoring the backup. You obviously messed it up. I don’t know how one might mess up a cPanel restore but you did.

We cannot help you with that. You obviously need someone to do the work. I suggest you hire a professional. Even if you only pay the person for 1 or 2 hours.

well, i fixed it, kind of…i can finally access my wp-admin and site url without any errors, but now it says my theme is broken and when i go to my site it’s just a blank page.

i think what happened was that when i restored the back up it didn’t put the plug ins and themes in the database, can i just copy them into the wp directory via ftp?

i have now fixed everything, including my original problem, so yay me. i didn’t have to move wordpress or hire someone to fix it either. after restoring the database, i had to add my backed up themes and plug ins via ftp, and then the only thing wrong was that i had broken pictures and menus, so i fixed that too. then i removed the /wp off of my site url by simply removing it off of the site address(url) under the general settings, fixing the permalink and changing the index.php yeah, it took me 4 days, but that’s because the initial problem was a redirect that i had to get removed and then when i followed the moving wordpress codex, which, i didn’t even need to do btw, everything went T.U. but it doesn’t matter now, because it’s finally fixed!
