• I’m working on a website where there’s no need for related posts to be used, but it would be fine if I could change the text “related posts”.

I’ve looked at multiple different peoples posts about related posts on the forum but nothing works for me. I can’t find the settings for turning them off anywhere even though I’ve looked at some guides for it. But where the guides edit looks different from where i edit. It’s not the Jetpack plugin since i’ve already checked that.

Could it be my theme? It’s the free version of Writers Blogily. To see the posts where Related Posts appear on my page go aktiviteter in the menu and then choose V?r-Sommaar-H?st or Vinter

  • It looks like the Related Posts section is coded into inc/single.php file of the theme (line 60) and there isn’t an option to remove it.

If you really want to remove it, you can create a Child Theme on your own and edit out the part you don’t need.

Or, you may want to talk to the author on the theme forum and suggest adding an option to turn it off:

Oh, that’s not unfortunate, but thank you.

I’ve only used WordPress for a couple of weeks and have no coding experience. Do you think someone like that could get related posts posts removed through a child theme or would you advice me against it?

I will write a post suggesting an option to turn it off on the theme forum, however I’m afraid I won’t get an answer anytime soon. About 3 weeks ago I actually asked a question there (which I’m currently getting help with on this forum instead) and still no answer.

As long as you follow the instructions carefully, I personally don’t think creating a Child Theme for this purpose is super hard. It may take some time because it’s the first time but could be good practice for learning how things work.

If you want to move on with the direction, I recommend setting up a separate test site so that you won’t break the live site you have.

From 12:46 of this video, you can learn about tools to set up a local site (WordPress site running on your computer) for that purpose.
