Can't Remove From Private Group

I went into a user profile and un-ticked the box for a private forum that this user previously had permission to view.
However, when going into Manage Subscriptions, the user still appears as having permissions to that group, i.e. Green isMember button is still there for the user.
Any idea what might be going on with this?
