  • Yeah, what happened to the great drag and drop widgets? Did someone consider this new system an improvement? Geeeez.

I also am having the same issue. I’m trying to remove a simple text widget, and I’m having no luck.

It more or less just stopped working. I was moving some things around, saved, and the next thing I knew, I had black dots next to some of the widgets, and I couldn’t drag & drop or edit them.

Has anyone found a fix for this?

I hope you have solved the problem, but i had the same, and i solved it.

I couldn’t remove/change widget in my sidebar. I removed all plugins (I turned them off) and then i successdully changed the widged which is in wordpress by default. I hope this can help you to solve your problem.

If you alredy solved this, it can stay for someone else who has the same problem. ??

This is how to work with widgets.

    1. From the Widgets Screen, Click ‘add’ to add a widget.
    2. Then click ‘save changes’ on the right side of the widgets screen.
    3. If you want to delete, you click the ‘Save Changes’ a second time.

Note: When you delete, all widgets will be deleted, just go back and ‘Add’ the widgets and ‘Save Changes’ for the ones you want back!!!

    Hope this helps.

when I want to remove text from a widget I just use my backspace
key and remove all the text or html on the widget, then I click save changes at the bottom and I can then re-use the widget again.
I never did understand why you cant just hi-lite a widget’s
content and then delete it, would be so much easier!
    hope this helps.

I followed the advice to delete the widget and finally got my site back up but it will not let me into make any edits…Can someone help? I have no idea what the problem is. thanks

So you van`t edit a text widget then. You can?t copy into one neither..!?

A developer set me up and split. I have widgets where I have to post in html. I don’t know how to do html. Is there any way to get rid of that and be able to just enter text?

Will you email me an answer? [email protected]

I have the same problem here:
    https://www.testyourbroadband.co.uk/

None of the widgets in the RIGHT sidebar can be removed. I can’t add any new ones either. They disapear in “widgets” section of Admin.. but not on the actual site.

The left side bar seems ok – I can add or remove a textbox.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
I know how to add and remove widgets.. its just not working.

    I use the WordPress 2.7
I can remove the widgets, for example, the text widget, if you want to remove it, you need to click the “edit”, and you’ll find two options under. One of them is remove.
    Just click it.

I have the a similar problem. I installed WP and a custom theme. All looked well. The theme has Search, Archives, Categories, etc. functions in the right sidebar.

I wanted to add WP’s built-in Widgets: Pages and Calendar. I went to WP-Admin, selected Appearance | Widgets, clicked Add next to Pages and Calendar, and clicked Save Changes.

When I checked my site, the 2 widgets were added but my theme-based sidebar contebnt is GONE! While I would prefer to add Pages & Calendar to my sidebar, if I cannot, I want to remove them.

I logged out and in, went to widgets, clicked Edit next to each widget (Pages & Calendar), and NOTHING happens; no drop-down with Remove option.

Please, how do I get rid of them?

Okay, if all else fails…reboot. Something must have been stuch in cache or ‘whatever’. But I rebooted, tried again, and when I hit Edit, I now get the mini drop-down and can delete the widget.

    CLOSED – for me.

I get the same problem. In wp-admin, under the current widgets, I want to remove one of the five widgets, but no luck.

When I click on the “Edit”, it normally expand so that I can remove it.
But now, all widgets don’t expand that page for me. Any help?

PS. I have multiple WP sites which only one of them has this problem. All of the same version, same theme.
