Can't Recall how I created a custom URL for page!

There are 2 ways to change your url:

1. go to Post and look for the item

click Edit

click edit button beside the permalink

2, go to Post and look for the item

click Quick Edit

modify Slug

[signature moderated]

post deleted

thanks for your help, how would one format the link after editing the slug,

if I change the permalink I get
https://www.williamwalsh.eu/w/lightofday
as my WP folder is called W on my host server.

In the original example though I’ve somehow managed to get away with:
https://www.williamwalsh.eu/overthehills/

Can you tell me whats your site URL?

because we can always put the site in any folder but still point it to the root URL.

You may want to verify what you have in the Settings

Under General Settings:

look for Site Address (URL):

Make sure you put here: https://www.williamwalsh.eu

That’s the site address alright, like so…

When it resolves in the browser the the /w is visible though like
williamwalsh.eu/w

What next?

what version of wordpress do you have?

as the latest version should have these fields in general settings:

The link would look like this:

https://site.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

and these are the options:

Site Title
Tagline
WordPress Address (URL) :
Site Address (URL :

So if you change the Site Address (URL) :

then it will all be fixed.

The link above doesn’t work but I changed the
‘Site Address (URL)’ to remove the W and my site
disappeared.

Strangely when the server couldn’t find the main site it defaulted to
https://williamwalsh.eu/photography/works-in-print-gallery
which is presumably another direct link I created at one point but is no longer valid.

If I need to remove the W to make these direct URLs work then why is
https://www.williamwalsh.eu/overthehills/
still up and running?
