I can’t reach my site’s WordPress Dashboard after enabling some features (don’t remember specifically) in Better WP Security. Here’s the error I receive when trying and of the following links:

    • fbppc.com/wp-admin
    • fbppc.com/wp-login.php
    • fbppc.com/login

    The connection has timed out

The server at fbppc.com is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network
    connection.I
f your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

    So far I’ve tried

    • Disabling all plugins and themes
    • Resetting the .htaccess file to default/deleted .htaccess file
    • Completedly removed BWPS tables and _options entries from my database
    • Reset permalinks via database

I also recently took the site off of Cloudflare (was causing issues with TTFB and overall speed) so I don’t know if my .htaccess file is being stored in a cahces some where. I also deleted all cache plugins and files the site.

BTW: the front end of the site, fbppc.com, works just fine.

  • Are you sure this is related to the plugin – did you just make these changes? There have been widespread issues like this today due to massive attacks on servers. You might want to check with your hosting company.

Oh I see. Well, I stopped being able to reach the dashboard pretty soon after enabling these features. I believe I chose harden .htaccess and change admin url. The site seemed to be under heavy load at the time, and I’ve read a few threads hereabout running out of Memory during these actions causing problems.

Forgot to mention I also did a reinstall of all WordPress core files.

Can you point me towards more info on these massive server attacks?

The site in question is hosted on GoDaddy.

They are definitely one of the involved hosts –
