I’m attempting to edit a MaxGalleria gallery by sorting its images using the drag-and-drop feature. Once I’m completed with the sorting changes, I click the “Update” button and the entire gallery reverts all changes I made to it.

Another issue that might be related – I also can’t seem to update the Title / Alt/ Caption. Only the “ALT Text” will stay and the Title and Caption are being deleted.

We haven’t changed themes recently, and I’ve attempted disabling all plugins, removing cache, etc.

Site is using MaxGalleria 6.2.0 and WP 5.6, and PHP 7.3.23.

I usually publish a gallery as soon as I create it and then I will not receive warning messages from WordPress while adding images. When changing the order of gallery images, the changes are immediately saved to the database. There is no need to click the update button again. The same is true when editing the image fields. The Update button should be clicked when the gallery template has been changed or when there has been any changes to the gallery options.

Try editing the alt field without clicking the Publish/Update button and see if that works for you.

Thanks for the quick response, Alan, much appreciated.

I just tried moving images and viewing the gallery without clicking “Update” but unfortunately none of the sorting changes were saved.

I also tried sorting an image AND changing a gallery option. It looks like the Gallery option change I made was saved, but the image sorting/changes that I made didn’t apply.

I am experiencing the same issue with the current MaxGalleria plugin (6.2.0) – reordering images in the gallery using the drag/drop UI is no longer working for me. The changes don’t “stick”.

This seems to be an issue caused by the changes to the jQuery and jQuery Migrate Libraries that have been made in WordPress 5.5 and 5.6. I will look into this and get back to you.

If you have installed the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin, you can go to Tools, jQuery Migrate and on the Settings tab, for jQuery Version select Legacy 1.12.4-wp. Then you will be able to change the order of images in the gallery. This is only a temporary solution until the code can be rewritten for the new version of jQuery.

The Migrate Helper plugin did the trick. Thanks!

Good luck with the JQuery fix. ??

Did the trick for me, too. Thank you!

Today we have released version 6.2.1 that allows the reordering of images without the need to install the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin. To reorder gallery images or videos, you must place the mouse over the first column in the gallery table row and drag it.
