Can’t publish. Up until last night everything worked fine. I have made no changes to anything but this message appears when I try to publish my entry:

This error (HTTP 406 Not Acceptable) means that Internet Explorer was able to receive information from the website you visited, but the information was not in a format that Internet Explorer can display.

What does that mean, and what can I do to resolve this problem. While I wait for a response I’ll see if I can figure it out for myself. If I have any success I will mark this post as “resolved”. Thanks to for your help.

  • Could be due to some faulty plugin. Try disabling them and also try another browser like Firefox.

Not a plugin as I am been using the same plugins with the same theme for several weeks now without incident. I have also been using IE7 for a few months now, also without incident.

That being said I resolved the problem.

    How I did it:

Went into file manager, located .htaccess file and edited by adding “SecFilterEngine off” without the quotes and then saved the changes. Works fine now, but for how long I don’t know.

I understand that HTTP 406 is a rare error and that it is usually created as a result of something that occurred on the webhoster’s end. Has anybody else heard that?
