• Hiya,

I’m on 2.7.1 — I cannot edit, save or publish posts.

I recently tried to change the post date on a recently published post I’d been editing, but could not find the timestamp option (just the “Published” time field) — I had not noticed it was missing as I’d never used it in this blog. That didn’t work, and I mistakenly changed the “published” date (to yesterday.)

I wasn’t able to undo this, so I just copy-pasted the contents, deleted the post and tried to re-post it — no joy. Any attempt to create a new post or update an old one (or even to save a new draft) redirects me to /wp-admin/edit.php

Tried disabling plugins, this happened directly after I deleted the old post, so it’s unlikely it’s plugin- or security-related. I’ve also tried reinstalling, no joy.

Oddly, going to /wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=<whatever> for a previous deleted post will bring up a correct “perhaps this post was deleted?” error message. However, going to any post / revision number past the last published one (including the one I just deleted) takes me back to edit.php

I’m totally lost, any help appreciated enormously.

OK, solved this (I think.) Something must have gotten corrupted in the wp_posts or wp_postsmeta tables. The deleted post still showed up in both that and wp_posts. I just did a mysql delete for all references to that post and its ID, and re-posted. Worked fine. Maybe this helps someone.
