Can't post articles after migration to VPS

    I’ve migrated my site from shared hosting to a VPS with Ubuntu Server. I’ve set everything up and restored the databases etc. But there is one big problem. The page to post articles does not work ( it does not allow me to change the category, title and the main text area is not visible.

    I’ve looked at the apache log and the error is: PHP Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /var/www/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 631, referer: https://mysite.com/wp-admin/ .

    I’ve already tried to repair the database in Phpmyadmin, but it’s not corrupt. While importing the MySQL database in PHPmyadmin I got this error: I’ve got a question. I’ve migrated my site from shared hosting to a VPS with Ubuntu Server. I’ve set everything up and restored the databases etc. But there is one big problem. I’ve looked at the apache log and the error is: #1071 – Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes

    Because of this it might have been possible that not everything is imported. My old hosting is down, so I can’t fall back to that. Right now I’ve got a backup of the SQL database and the www folder.

    Does anyone now how to fix the problem?

    Thanks for your reply Tara.

    All the themes and add ons are up-to-date. I’ve disabled them all, but that didn’t solve the problem unfortunately.

    Hi X-Raym,

    I’ve unfortunately not found a solution for this issue. Eventually I ended up reinstalling WordPress and manually copied the data to the new server. I suspect that the issue has to do with the MySQL database not being back-upped or imported correctly. Hope you still manage to resolve the issue.
