Can’t open links in a new tab

  • Hi there,

    I’m currently having an issue with opening links in a new tab/window. None of my links will open in a new tab. The page above is an example of this. Below is one of the links on that page:

    <span style="text-decoration: underline; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;"><a href="https://www.bibliophone.com/bibliophone-matchmaker-story-request/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;">For the narrator</span></a></span>

    That’s in the text editor screen. If I revert back to visual editor, and check the box that says ‘Open link in new window’ it still doesn’t work, and proceeds to open in the same window.

    Any ideas how I can fix this?

    I just visit your site and inspect that code.
    That link doesn’t have any target attribute while I inspect your code.
    This may cause for any of your wordpress plugin.
    please try to deactivating your wordpress plugin one by one and see your site when it works.

    Hey,

    I’ve tried that (deactivating all plugins one by one) but it doesn’t make any difference. I also tried adding all those plugins to another site I have and the links opened in a new tab with no problem on that site. Which suggests it isn’t a plugin, right?

    Hi, I’ve also tried changing the theme and this has no effect either. I’m going out of my mind. Whatever method I use, whether in text or visual editor, I cannot get any links on my site to open in a new tab.

    Please, if anyone is able to offer any support I would be grateful.

    I also see exactly what you saw Themesgrove: even though in the code above you can see that I have included a target attribute, when you inspect the link (or any of the links on my site I believe) they don’t have any target attributes at all. Why might that be?
