cant login with clef

    hallo..

    cant login with clef, I keep getting “It looks like you’re logged into Clef as [email protected]”. And a big button “Log in to (website name)”. When I click that, it just reloads the same page.

    what i already try : clear all cache (didnt work)

    plugin i use :
    – itheme security with “hide backend” activated and custom login url
    – wp super cache
    – autoptimize

    i have reads that i have to exclude login url/script from cache (https://support.getclef.com/article/95-the-state-parameter-is-not-verified-error) but didnt work, since i dont know exactly what to include.

    the article say to exclude URL parameters. Ordinarily, this is achieved by using the wildcard character (i.e., *) in the rule (e.g., wp-login.php* or /my-secret-login-script-name/*).

    but in the ithemes security “hide backend” custol login url say : The output is limited to alphanumeric characters, underscore (_) and dash (-). Special characters such as “.” and “/” are not allowed and will be converted in the same manner as a post title.

    sarry for my bad english, i dont know exactly how to say all this, hope you all understand what i mean. need some help asap

  • FYI: to test if autoptimize (which does JS/ CSS optimization on the frontend, not on admin-pages), you can add ?ao_noptimize=1 to the URL, this will load the page without JS/CSS optimization.

    Good morning. The thing to check regarding your caching settings is whether your renamed login script (i.e., the renamed location of /wp-login.php that you’ve set via iThemesSecurity) has been excluded from whatever caches are running on your hosting configuration (you’ve mentioned WP Super Cache, so definitely check there; also, if you are using Varnish or a reverse proxy cache such as CloudFlare, check those too).

    If you’ve verified that you’re good to go on the caching front, then the next thing to check is whether you have a theme conflict (i.e., whether your theme’s code has re-written the login hooks in such a way that conflicts with Clef) or a plugin conflict (i.e., another plugin is blocking Clef’s ability to process the login hooks).

    To test for a theme conflict, you can temporarily switch to a default theme such as TwentySixteen, and then perform a Clef log in.

    To test for a plugin conflict, you can temporarily deactivate all plugins except Clef; then perform a Clef log in; then re-activate your other plugins one-by-one and run a Clef log in between each one until you find the one that is causing the conflict.

    If you reach a dead end after trying to troubleshoot from your end, send an email to [email protected] with the URL of the site in question and as much info as possible about your hosting setup (your hosting provider and plan), and we’ll take a look.
