    Hi,

When I try to login to my blog I’m redirected to a 404 page not found page. I did not change anything I’ve been writing on my blog without problems for years.

I can see the login form: https://www.deletespyware-adware.com/blog/wp-login.php yet I try to login it returns to 404.

The only change I made is change of web hosting company. However my other blogs that I’ve too changed host still work fine.

    Any idea please?

    Thanks,
    Karl

Typically those who note this issue have failed to update WordPress, their Theme and Plugins and have been hacked due to poor site maintenance.

so what shall I do tell a programmer to fix the prob? Nothing I can do myself?

    try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – renaming or deleting the .htaccess file by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. If you delete it make a backup first.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder from a fresh download of WordPress. by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    Hi keesiemeijer,

I tried all four apart from the first one and problem persists.

I am afraid of trying the first one, if I’m able to login then how am I going to switch back to normal? Probably my theme is customized one.

You can always switch back to your theme after you can login.

The only change I made is change of web hosting company.

Was it after changing hosts that you get the 404?

    Hi,

    ok I have 3 folders in /blog/wp-content/themes

I renamed all of them but prob persists. There’s also in this same folder index.php file. When I renamed them the blog itself returned blank page but it’s normal this I think.

Don’t really know, I changed host couple days ago. However few days before changing host, from my older webhost I received email that my site had malware, because I had outdatad wp scripts and wp version, however they were not referring to this site but to my other add on domains I had on same hosting account. Those domains have wordpress blogs too and they work fine.

I had logged to all my wordpress including this one and made all updates to everything. So probably problem occured after chaning host not before.
