• Hello,

Yesterday I wanted to clone a website I last used in 2018. I updated all plugins, themes, and WordPress core to latest versions (6.0.2), backed up and migrated to new location with Duplicator lite. All that went great. I have 2 websites now, both with same content, which is correct.

After restoring the old site, I changed the theme from Optizer Pro to Astra free, and added Elementor and “Unlimited Elements for Elementor” plugins, which all went fine.

I had a nice working well designed website upgraded to the most recent versions (which was required by everything I read for it to work properly). But, when I tried to edit and publish a post that had been in draft mode since the original site, WordPress started acting wonky.

First I noticed that the “save” or “submit” button at top in Gutenberg was deactivated — I could not click on it to save, though I seemed to be able to edit fine.

So, after several attempts I just closed the website and tried to log back in, but I could not. Then I started troubleshooting. I disabled all plugins through FTP, cleared browser cache several times.

Through all of this, the front end displayed fine. Only when re-enabled the plugins and created the new admin user (https://www.greengeeks.com/tutorials/use-phpmyadmin-add-admin-user-wordpress-database) was I finally able to log-in. But to where? I can see my Gravatar avatar (with the blue circle background), but I still can’t access the Dashboard. I think I’m logged into WooCommerce.

    NOTES:

    – I don’t think this has anything to do with plugins since the issue persisted after clearing cache, disabling ALL plugins and even trying another browser.

    – This is weird: The user account I had been logged in with DID NOT EXIST in the _users database when I checked.

    – I tried removing all themes except twentytwentyone but then I just got a plain blank white screen.

    – The new user account I created seems to not have access to the Dashboard, none of the passwords (on two other accounts) that were working before I started to edit that old post work now. This was all before I began monkeying with MySQL

I have reenabled the plugins and themes since disabling them didn’t help. I still can’t login to the Dashboard

  • I’ve noticed the shared URL is https://erichepperle.com/wp/hko/20220901/

However, when I click on the profile icon on this page, I’m redirected to another instance: https://websitedemos.net/organic-shop-02/wp-login.php

Do you think you’re trying to log in to an incorrect instance?

There might be issues with the site URL of your instance. This can be reviewed as well.

    Additionally, considering this note:

The user account I had been logged in with DID NOT EXIST in the _users database when I checked.

I think you’re reviewing the database of another instance (perhaps the second URL I shared). Please check the wp-config.php database credentials to ensure you’re reviewing the correct database.
