Can not login using the iOS app. Writing this topic for the 2nd time as this forums put my 1st post to the bin, sry if a detail is missing.

    XML-RPC is enabled and working.

Tried every combination (username vs. e-mail as username), password 100 % correct.

Always states (translated): “This username/this passwords seems to not be linked to this webiste.” – which is complete bullshit.

The app can not handle 2FA wordpress instances, right?

With such language, I’m not surprised the forum software would “bin” your previous post (if that indeed happened!).

The WordPress software has no 2FA feature at all.

If you have 2FA, it must be coming from a plugin or something else.

What 2FA plugin are you using? Or is this a WordPress.COM site?

Yes of course it’s from a plugin:

Well according to a developer response to a Appstore review, the WordPress iOS mobile app supports 2FA.

Those are not a wordpress.com site but typical hoster ones.

If you’re logging in through your site address and wp-admin login credentials, the WordPress app won’t be able to handle 2FA authentication. If you’d like to use the app with 2FA, the app can support that kind of login using WordPress.com. That connects to your site through Jetpack: https://jetpack.com/support/sso/#requiring-two-step-authentication

Discovered this already at another place. I don’t think I‘ll walk that hacky redirect path. I prefer increasing security.

Native support for 2FA and passkeys is state of the art. We have 2024.

So I won‘t use the app until this is implemented.

And to whomever answers reviews in the Apple App Store: stop making false statements.

We have an open issue for adding security keys for 2FA. Please note that features are considered by the developers for every release based on the number of requests they receive for that feature.
    ?
If you have any further questions or suggestions, we recommend continuing your discussion directly on the GitHub issue here:

… and give +1 for developers’ consideration.

That feature request is 3 years old – and received not a single response. Kind of funny.

    Anyway, thank you.

It just means people aren’t that interested… or don’t need this badly enough to even bother to raise their hand.

Probably. But if you check the reviews in Apple app store, you’ll find a few complaining the WordPress mobile app does not support 2FA. It’s just way to complicated to walk the long way and end here (like I did) looking at how those reviews are answered.

Anyway, I’m out, nothing to win here. Anyway, appreciate your time.

I understand you’re having trouble logging in to your WordPress site. It can be frustrating when that happens, but don’t worry, I will suggest few things we can try to get you back in. Make sure you will try all of these points below:

    1-Double-check your username and password.

2-Clear your browser cache and cookies.

    3-Temporarily deactivate plugins.

    4-Reset your password if needed.

If that doesn’t work, contact your web hosting provider for further assistance.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Double-Check Credentials: Ensure you’re using the correct username/email and password.
    2. Update/Restart: Make sure the app and your iOS device are up to date. Try restarting your device.
    3. Reinstall the App: Uninstall and reinstall the app to clear any issues.
    4. Check Internet: Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
    5. Password Reset: If all else fails, reset your password.
    6. Contact Support: If it still doesn’t work, reach out to the app’s support for help.

These steps should help resolve the issue.
