• I used to be able to login to my admin panel on my mobile phone, an LG Voyager with “enhanced html browser” prior to 2.6 version. It seems there is now added security that the phones browser doesn’t support.

Cookies are turned on. I tried a prior version of Word Press and was able to login to the admin panel. Anyone have any “workarounds” for this at all or any suggestions? I know one option would be to use a prior version, but i don’t feel like having my site hacked in any way.

WordPress 2.6 didn’t add anything special in this respect. Just new cookies.

Try clearing your mobile browser’s cookies. It should have an option for that somewhere.

are you saying that it shld work? cause i don’t recall seeing anyone who was successful…

I’m able to login to my WP blog from mobile devices. I don’t have an LG Voyager, but still…

what version are u using? most who upgraded to 2.6 no longer can…

and i’ve tried everything, clearing cache, using different browsers, nothing works… it just keeps going back to the login page

I use several different versions for several different sites, but all of them are 2.6.2 or higher. I’ve never had a problem logging into any of them from my cell phone.

And I would suggest that you be more careful about your use of the word “most”, because unless you have real statistical information, you have no real idea what “most” people can or can not do. You’re making an unwarranted assumption, IMO. “Most” people have no problems at all. Those who do are the exception, not the rule.

Every login problem that I am aware of can be fixed by clearing cookies. But, it is possible that a plugin is preventing logins as well, in which case you need to disable the plugins.

apologies, i assumed that as i’ve been searching for a few days and no one seems to have the answer despite many posting the same problem.

anyway, i tried a fresh install of 2.6.2 and i still faced the same problem.

i noticed that when i log in via wp-admin page, it redirects me to:
    mydomain.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmydomain%2Fwp-admin%2F

where mydomain = the name of my domain where the blog is hosted

    any suggestions?

ok after more digging, i actually found a solution that worked here:

i noticed that you were very against it but it worked to solve my problem. so what wld u suggest as an alternative?

    tks.

but it worked to solve my problem

I am against it because it disables a very important security feature.

And that problem IS solved by clearing cookies. All I can suggest is that you didn’t clear your cookies on your mobile browser properly. Doing a “fresh install” is meaningless when the problem is on the browser side of things.

understood. but unfortunately, the browsers on mobilephones are quite limited in functions and the best i can do is click on the ‘clear cookies’ option. There is nothing else i know for clearing cookies on the mobile browser.

I also have a Voyager and cannot log into my WP. Perhaps it’s an issue with Verizon’s network. I cleared my cookies as well! Any idea if there is a moderator with a Voyager that can try this out?
