• Hey everyone,

I have installed and activated Ultimate Member plugin in a website that I’m currently building for a client. After set up, I tried logging in using my admin credentials in a different browser to test it. However, I’m being redirected back to the login screen and not the WordPress admin page. I have both “Allow Backend Login Screen for Guests” and “Allow Backend Register Screen for Guests” switched off. Other than that, the rest of the settings are at their default state.

I tried doing a fresh re-install by uninstalling the plugin first then deleting it. But when I re-installed it, it’s as if I never uninstalled it. Everything remained the same. Even the new user registration page is giving the same problem. When I tried creating a new user, it redirected me back to the registration page with all the fields empty but no new user registered in the backend.

I also tried going to the database and delete every row that has either “ultimate” or “um_” values in every table in order to have a fresh install. Even though that sort of worked, but I’m still having the issue with the login and register page redirect.

    Please help!

  • Hi,

This sounds very frustrating. Are you using any caching plugins? If so, try disabling them. Are you using any other plugins that affect the login or registration pages, especially other membership or front-end plugins?

Finally, does the problem persist if you revert to a default theme?

I just looked at your site. Both of your links refer to pages behind a subdirectory, /education:

    https://angari.org/education/teacher-registration/

    https://angari.org/education/sign-in/

Where is UM installed — in the main directory or a subdirectory? It probably cannot detect those pages.

    Hey verysiberian

Thank you for your quick response. Those 2 subdirectories will be used once I can get the Ultimate Member plugin to work properly. So for now, the plugin is using the default pages for the login and register.

    https://angari.org/login/

    https://angari.org/register/

I see what you mean, I tried to register to test your site but was simply redirected back to the registration page after submitting the form.

Can you post screenshots of your UM settings? Also, what other plugins are you using?

    Best regards,
    Rob

Can you ask host to deactivate mod_security on your site and see if issue till happens?

    Thanks

    Hey Rob

I have uploaded the Ultimate Member settings screenshots you requested here: https://angari.org/screenshots/. As far as other plugins conflicting, I had deactivated every plugins and themes to see if one of them was conflicting, but the plugin Ultimate Member was still giving the same issue with the redirect.

I tried contacting my hosting provider to have the mod_security deactivate, but they can’t do that. Are there any other testings I can perfom to try resolving this issue?

    Thanks!

Dang, that’s tough if your host won’t deactivate mod_security and you have already tested the registration and login forms with all other plugins deactivated. To clarify, you reverted to the default theme and this redirect problem still occurred?

I’m afraid that you may be facing an insurmountable obstacle with your host. To determine if mod_security is the limiting factor, you could try using a locally installed WordPress like this one and see if the problem remains:

    Good luck,

    Hey Guys

I managed to disable ModSecurity through the cPanel and tested the Ultimate Member plugin. It finally WOKED! Now why is that? Why is ModSecurity causing the plugin not to work and what is the work-around for that? When I have ModSecurity deactivated I have this warning message:

Warning: ModSecurity is disabled for one or more of your domains. Only disable ModSecurity while you troubleshoot a problem with your configuration. Without ModSecurity enabled, your domains lose the extra layer of protection that the module provides.

I don’t want the website to be vunerable because of this feature being off in order for one plugin to work. How do I fix this?

    Thanks!

You can ask your host to make the configurations less strict and see if it allows for the forms to be submitted properly.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Could you please guide me to create the login/logout/new user registration page on website. i want to implement this so that users can login the page and download the image, submit the forms. this things would be availabe for only registered users.

    Hi lkumari:

The plugin should have already created the pages and forms needed to get you up and going.
You can browse to the plugin settings to enable the redirection to the UM (Ultimate Member) login and register pages by default when a user or admin is accessing WordPress via wp-admin or wp-login.php.
If you want to create new forms, just create them under the forms tab under the Ultimate Member plugin.

Hi, I got the same problem, but seems disabling mod_security didn’t do the trick for me. I’ve also tested it on plain vanilla sites without other plugins installed, and it doesn’t work either.

Any other explanations what might be causing the “403 Forbidden/Server configuration does not allow access to this page” error upon login/register?

It’s a pity because I was going to get the full extensions package, but without the login it’s a bit useless to start with ??

Please ignore. My server provider now confirmed they’ve “disabled a false positive mod_security rule”. It’s all working great now, am totally amazed about all the awesome features and capabilities of this plugin. Very well done!!!

    Hello there,

I can login to the backend as an admin but for any other access level i get the page cannot access error. Can you please help? Thank you

I also have this problem, it’s definitely the plugin. Default setup all pages correct no other plugins installed server setup correct. Can’t register just keeps looping back to same page.
