    Error message:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare Composer\Autoload\includeFile() (previously declared in /home/uuessay/public_html/wp-content/plugins/php-compatibility-checker/vendor/composer/ClassLoader.php:442) in /home/uuessay/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/vendor/composer/ClassLoader.php on line 445

I understand from the forum that my problem stems from a WordFence bug, but since I can no longer access to my dashboard, I remain locked out so cannot delete files or activate a fix => problem remains unsolved.
PLEASE HELP ME ASAP. My livelihood depends on it.

  • Hey, if you’re doing this professionally, it is mandatory you have SFTP access to your WordPress installation files. You can delete Wordfence and other plugins there, and start over. Arrange with your web host. If they’re not helpful, time to run don’t walk to a better host. Or, hire a consultant to help. A reliable WordPress install with a raft of plugins is not casual. MTN

I had the problem for about an hour. Then I called HostGator.com. The said there is a PHP problem and solved it. I used both Chrome and Firefox.

    FYI
RESPONSE FROM SURPASS HOSTING CORE DESK TO MOUNTAINGUY2:
?SFTP requires you to use the root user account on the server, and is used explicitly in circumstances when files need to be modified on the entire server. You have a shared hosting package which means your hosting account is one of many on the server. The root account has access to the entire server, and for obvious reasons we cannot give root access to any of the clients on the server which means you cannot use SFTP on this server. If you truly believe that SFTP is necessary then you would need to upgrade to VPS or dedicated server package. Any hosting provider that will give you root access on a shared environment is not one you want to host with because it would mean any other client on that server could be given total access to your site and all of its files at any time. Furthermore, there’s absolutely no reason SFTP is necessary here over just FTP. All of the WordPress files are in your account’s home directory, and FTP allows you to create, modify, and remove files or directories in the home directory.?

You can use FTP but SFTP is a secure mode of FTP which is why it is preferred. The problem seems to stem from the php-compatibility-checker plugin trying to load something we already loaded. They should be checking to see if it is already loaded first before trying to load it. Try disabling the plugin by using ftp and renaming the php-compatibility-checker folder in wp-content/plugins to php-compatibility-checker.bak. Renaming a plugin folder that way immediately deactivates the plugin. That should address the immediate issue.

    Hi @maxmulf,
This was an issue that affected Wordfence 7.1.14. If you use FTP or any file manager your web host provides to remove the wordfence folder completely from wp-content/plugins and reinstall the newest version of Wordfence, the problem should be resolved.

    Hi @maxmulf,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while. If after reinstalling Wordfence doesn’t solve the issue, please feel free to open another thread.

    Thanks!
