Cant log on after installation

  • Hi,

    I’ve just installed wordpress 2.7 using FileZila. I was then given my password and was able to log on. When I went to the ‘view this site’ option I was given this error message

    Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘../wp-load.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php’) in /homepages/30/d258664906/htdocs/taroteon.com/admin.php on line 19

    I’ve tried going through the ftp process again and reentering my information in the wp-config.sample section- then attempted to upload again.

    I really dont understand any of this stuff so any help you could give me- point me in the right direction- I would be really appreciative.

  • I’d first consider deleting the WordPress files, then reupload.

    Hi MichaelH,

    Thanks for the link. I’ve got wordpress up and running now. Phew! I deleted the wordpress files and uploaded again. It worked, in the sense that I could get to my dashboard but then I still couldnt view my blog. I phoned my host and they sorted the problem out their end and now we’re up and running. Awesome feeling.

    …when i goto look at the default or classic layout options I can’t actually see them. I’ve got no problems selecting them and it showing on the actual blog but I can’t see them on my dashboard. Do you think that could be my browser or something I did when uploading the files? It’s no big issue cause can still chose between the two but if there’s any ideas you’ve got on how to fix it I would appreciate it.

    Try deleting and reuploading the wp-content/themes folder. Make sure you use ASCII mode with FTP when uploading files.

    I opened a news story on a site in India and a word press screen came up asking me to log in when I decided to respond to the news story.
    I went to the word press website and got me a user name and password.
    When I attempted to post a response to the India news story the site did not recognise my password username and password.
    what gives?
