• Hello,

I tried logging into my wordpress blog over at https://www.RichAtLast.com/blog/wp-login.php and I keep getting a 404 error, “Page cannot be found”.

I FTP’d into my site and all the files are there, but for some reason, the regular browser won’t detect them. I tried it with IE and Firefox, but nothing.

I then tried logging into the admin, and same thing, “Page cannot be found”.

So I logged into Cpanel, clicked on the Fantastico link and found that it said my blog was outdated… that there was a version 3.x available. So clicked on the “upgrade” button, which I thought would fix everything, but it didn’t.

I’ve tried everything I can think of with no success.

Anybody know how I can fix this?

    Jaime

P.S. Before you post your reply, this problem is different from what I’ve found here from other people. When I press the “Log In” link, nothing comes up, not even the log in form field, nothing. Same thing when I try to access the Admin area.

  • Have you tried downloading the latest version from here and uploading it manually to your server? I can access the front end of the blog but as you mentioned the backend is nowhere to be found.

Was there a plugin that you installed or a new theme that you activated before this issue appeared?

    Hi JarretC,

I should have specified that on my post.

No, I never messed with it at all.

Last time I was logged in was about two months ago, everything was working fine. Two or three months passed, then I tried to log in yesterday and this happens.

So I didn’t do any changes or installations at all.

Again, when I FTP to the server, all files are there and intact, but when I try to access the file through a browser, it says it can’t find them.

I’m thinking some kind of Cpanel upgrade or server file system corruption or maybe an issue with DNS… I don’t know.

And before even posting here I did an upgrade to make sure the installation was done correctly.

So, any ideas why this is happenning?

    Jaime

Did the upgrade that you did fully complete? When I try to visit the wp-admin url it redirects to upgrade.php as if the blog had an error while being updated and is trying to continue the update.

If you had manually uploaded the files to your server it is possible that there might have been an interruption while they were uploading and didn’t fully complete the transfer.

When trying to visit https://richatlast.com/blog/wp-admin it should take you to the WordPress Dasbhoard after logging in.

I upgraded through the CPanel. When I went to Fantastice, it said it was outdated and I simply clicked on the upgrade button.

According to CPanel, everything was upgraded successfully.

Well you said you FTP’d into the server. If I was you I would just download the latest version of WordPress from this site and then upload those files to the /blog/ directory.

This way you know for a fact that all of the files are correct and working. If this doesn’t fix the issue then it could possibly be something to do with a setting on your server or some misplaced code in an .htaccess file if one of those exists.
