• I am getting this message when I try to log into my WordPress site. “Due to site rules, a strong password is required for your account. Please choose a new password that rates as strong on the meter.” Is this coming from the update????

  • I inserted the same password as it was (it was recognized as strong), but I couldn’t log in, and now the wp-login.php isn’t redirecting properly…
    I also deleted the plugin folder from cPanel, but nothing happened, I am still locked out.
    I am responding to you in order to help you be careful.

    I managed to log in from my cell phone, but even with all plugins disabled, no luck opening the website from my PC… Not even the main page, and not even the cPanel…
    Something weird has happened.

    Disable iThemes plugin. Should be fine then.

    I’m having the same problem. Disabled the plugin and can now log in. Annoying bug. Or if not a bug, it’s not a very user friendly way how how it operates

    According to the 7.0.2 Changelog:

    Enhancement: Continually evaluate password strength for users instead of only during registration.

    So it’s probably not a bug …

    You can try to disable Strong Passwords from outside the WordPress Dashboard by adding the following line to the wp-config.php file:

    define('ITSEC_DISABLE_PASSWORD_REQUIREMENTS', true);

    Note the Strong Password Enforcement module no longer exists in the ui and it’s functionality is now part of the new Password Requirements module…

    If using the iTSec Pro (5.3.x) plugin the Password Requirements module will also contain the functionality of the Password Expiration and (the brand new) Refuse Compromised Passwords Pro modules.

    I have a huge problem and the solution isn’t found in my .htaccess file, unless some files are hidden but all of the other iThemes Security rewrites are there. I am unable to login on the backend. I honestly do not recall choosing an alternate login slug (if that’s proper).

    What can I do? I appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

    Miraculously, this sorted itself out when I received notification someone had been locked out (China IP address). When I clicked the link in the email to see who it was, it took me to my WP login screen. I discovered I had not used the login slug. But I did enable it and received the confirmation email. Not sure what happened here at all but I could not access the backend and I did not attempt to, for fear of locking myself out, somehow.

    Oh well….
