    I was getting brute force attacks against my login, so I turned on the ReCaptcha feature of Wordfence. Now it sends me a verification email each time I try to log in, but the verification login link does not work.

    I can’t get back in to try and fix the problem.

    The fastest way back into your site would be to use ftp/sftp to access the web server, rename the wordfence folder in wp-content/plugins, then log in. Renaming a plugin folder immediately deactivates the plugin. Once you access the site you can rename the wordfence folder again and then activate the plugin, and then figure out what happened.

    What happens when you click the login email link? Do you get an error, redirect or something else?

    I did the FTP thing and turned off the plugin. Then I was able to log in again. I then used WP-Optimize to remove all the old WF database tables. Then I turned WF back on and reconfigured it WITHOUT ReCaptcha. Up and running again.

    Obviously some issues in WF.

    Yes there is definitely an issue with Wordfence around the Recaptcha.

    a)
    it is sending an email for verification – useless.

    b)
    The QR code / 2FA worked once I think, then I checked Recaptcha v3 and it all unraveled from there.

    – disabling both allows me to log in (as the Admin)
    – re-enabling 2FA gives me the 2FA login dialog. Input field is way too light by the way.
    – enabling Recaptcha (2FA still on) – locked out – no activity seen on the login page at all.

    It seems to me your 2FA and Recaptcha are not playing well together.

    Have you had a chance to reactivate reCAPTCHA? What happens when you click the email verification link? Do you get an error, redirect or something else?

    I have not tried to use the reCAPTCHA again. Right now I don’t have time to troubleshoot something that I may not need and that may break my site again.
    When it was active, I got an email for verification, when I clicked to verify it went to the login screen, which had a verification message, but when I clicked to log in… nothing at all happened. Zip – no errors, no login, nothing.
