• Okay, I’m panicking. I know what I did wrong, but I can’t for the life of me fix it.

I tried to add a plug-in for a Twitter timeline, and I wrote bad code. Now when I try to go to the website, there’s a white screen of death with this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘;’ in /home/content/34/7128034/html/wp-content/themes/PersonalFinance/functions.php on line 187

I want to use FTP to log back into the site, but the problem is that I did not design this website, I was only given admin control (so I never received any original emails when the site was first created).

I’m using FileZilla for FTP, but of course in order to log into the server I need a host, username, and password. I put the website name as the host, the username I was given and the password, and it says the host and username are okay but that the password is not. The person who created the website no longer works here, so I don’t know if there is another password to use. I have no idea how to use myPHP. There is no backup file of the site, either.

Did I ruin this website? (I don’t know if this is helpful, but I’m still on the editing page for the functions.php for my theme where I can edit the code. Can I still fix it from there?)

I am PRAYING that someone can help me fix this. Thank you for any replies.

  • To get the FTP details you need to contact your hosting company. If you odn’t know who they are, talk to your accounts people as they’ll be able to look into the past bills and see who you’re paying for it. Those are the only people that will be able to get these details for you.

Okay, thank you. So far it doesn’t seem like they know where this information is, but I’ll keep looking.

    Who is your host?

GoDadd. The domain is WildWestDomains.com, but without the customer number and PIN it looks like I’m out of luck.

I tried downloading the theme again and copying/pasting the code for functions.php into the site again so that it would be a clean slate, but when I hit update it just brings me to that error message again. I can’t navigate anywhere else on the site, so this is my last little pigeonhole into the site.

No, it’s scottimmigration.com, but we’re paying Wild West Domains for the website name.

I don’t know if this is helpful, but I’m still on the editing page for the functions.php for my theme where I can edit the code.

Is there a url in your browser for this page?

Who get the bills from GoDaddy?

Yeah, but it doesn’t matter because if you try to open the url in a different page then it just comes up with that error message again.

As for your second question, that is the golden ticket right there. I’ve been trying to figure that out since this morning, because then I could get the login info to connect to the server in FileZilla.
