• I installed v2.5, since there are problems, I reverted to v2.3 but it won’t accept my password. When I go back to v2.5 it does. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

  • Which steps did you follow to downgrade? Did you replace all files in the root of the install and delete and replace the wp-includes and wp-admin folders or just overwrite everything?

The password functionality changed in 2.5, old password logic in 2.3 won’t work with the changed password data.

And frankly, if you revert, you’ll need to restore from an database backup anyway. This is the usual procedure. Upgrading is one-way, reverting is not generally possible.

If you did not backup your database before upgrading, then you should not attempt to downgrade.

If you absolutely must do it, then you can change your password using phpMyAdmin: https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/

I back up everything. I downloaded my entire blog as I always do to upgrade. I delete everything in 2.5 and just upload everything in 2.3. The page shows up fine but I can’t get inside my blog to change things.

Not the files, the database. Did you make and later restore a backup of the database?

You cannot simply replace 2.5 with 2.3 and expect it to work, because it won’t. You need to revert the database as well.

Thank you so much. I didn’t realize th difference. I took care of it. I’m going to stick with v2.3 for a while. Thank you again..
