Can't log in to WP Admin anymore

Login at https://www.breathminder.com/wp-login.php

When you enter breathminder.com/wp-admin, if you’re not logged in, WordPress redirects you to the login page. It seems Weaver or one of your plugins broke this, and is causing you to end up on that strange page instead.

Luckily, the direct link looks like it works.

Odai, thanks for your help, but there is no direct link that works. . .you sound on the right track that Weaver or plugin got me hung up. Do you think changing themes and changing plugins would be a way to resolve this? BTW, I keep seeing references to Twenty Eleven. . .I do not run a blog, just pages, so is Twenty Eleven tailored to blog sites or will it run pages equally well? (Some themes seem to focus on blogging more so than support for pages) Think I’d be better off with a different theme/plugin?

Joeseven, After login to admin change your setting>general> site url from https://www.breathminder.com/?page_id=325 to https://www.breathminder.com/

Let’s assume that it’s a plugin or the theme that’s preventing you from logging in. Are you able to get on the server itself, to delete/move files around? Because I’m thinking that’s what we’ll do.

In the directory where you installed WP, you’ll have a folder called “wp-content”. In there you’ll have a folder called “plugins”. You can go in and just delete them (or move them somewhere else, so you can put them back later if you want). After moving/deleting all your plugins, see if you can login.

Again, back to “wp-content”, but now to the “themes” folder. Move/delete the Weaver theme, but you’ll need another theme in there, for WP to fall back on. If you don’t have Twenty Ten in there, you can always download it, then upload it to your themes folder by FTP.

If a different theme doesn’t fix it, I’d guess your wp-login.php file got damaged somehow. Download a fresh copy of WP to your computer, take the wp-login.php file, and upload it over the old one.

Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven are both “official” WordPress themes, named after the years they were made. Twenty Ten is my favorite theme, for sure. Because the WordPress team made them, they’re always up-to-date and well-maintained.

I don’t know if you’re good at CSS and all that, but what I do is make a Child Theme on top of Twenty Ten, and modify it to look how I want. That way, Twenty Ten is doing all the heavy-lifting, and I can get the exact look I want.

Thanks again for your ideas. I went to contents folder and dumped one-and-only plugin I had for that shopping cart. . .went out and tried to log in, but got https://www.breathminder.com/?page_id=325%2Fwp-login.php&redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.breathminder.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1 again and same corrupted page; went to themes folder and I do have TwentyEleven, TwentyTen, and Weaver II all listed, so I got rid of Weaver and emptied trash can, closed out everything and tried to log in to WP Admin, this time I not only couldn’t log in, now my page (albeit corrupted) is gone totally. . .there’s nothing left of my pages on breathminder.com. If I re-install WP, won’t that erase all my pages?

Try:
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Try visiting https://studentsamravati.edu.ms/wp-admin/ and put in your userid and password. If that does not work then contact the admins at that WordPress installation https://studentsamravati.edu.ms/contact-us/

I am having trouble establishing a Child Theme – seems pretty simple but it is giving me trouble. I added a folder named 2010_child onto which I put a file giving me content/themes/2010_child/style.css containing this–

I apologize for not replying sooner – I had a lot of college stuff the past few days. You know how it is.

Are you able to login to your Dashboard now? Or is this Child Theme an attempt to login?

I did a side-by-side comparison of the code you put here, and this page, and I only see one difference. On this line:

@import url(../twentyten/style.css);

You need to put quotes around the URL, like this:

@import url("../twentyten/style.css");

And hopefully that will fix it.
