I cant login to my dashboard no more! i tried to auto upgrade to the latest version of wordpress. What happened is the auto upgrade didnt complete and i tried to refresh the page… since then, no more access to wordpress and my website isnt working either.

My website is hosted with GDI so i manage it via FTP ( FileZilla)

I tried a few things proposed on the forum.

1st – switching to the default theme by renaming my current theme folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP. mentioned here

2nd – I reseted the plugins like mentioned here

after these two steps… still not working

Now i have a question regarding the 3rd step ? do i need a fresh backup of by website ? because i didnt make one … i did download the XML file moneysideincome.wordpress on 2013-08-09 …. what’s a “fresh download of WordPress “? im new to all this ….

Please help me fix this!

Try manual update. Read the Manual Update directions first.

I think every experienced webmaster has already met a time when he’s had to make a manual update to fix some irritating problem that wouldn’t want to disappear. That’s just the way things are.

To save time, few people think of doing this, you can upload the whole wordpress.zip to a subfolder on your hosting account, delete wp-admin and wp-includes from the root folder, and move the contents of the subfolder to the root folder. It prevents the offline time caused by a manual install.
