• when i try to go to wp-login i get “error Establishing a connection to database”. can’t figure out if this a coding issue or server from host problem. any work arounds. i know there’s some way of checking the mysql settings in files, but can’t find them on this site any more. if you can help a volunteer it would be very much appreciated. thank you

  • Have you been able to login successfully previously? If so, it could be a temporary problem at your host’s end. Have you tried contacting theme?

i seem to have partially corrected problem. i can now display admin login window but can’t log in using password. is there a way to see if the password i’m using is still correct? not trying to hack.

You can’t read the password – it is encrypted. But you can reset it back to what you think it is supposed to be.

i did change it in phpadmin. the host people tech person said to! i knew they were incorrect. how can i get it back? should i go into phpadmin again?
i think there’s a post or doc that says how to do it on here but i can’t find it.do you know where it is. if i could get into admin panel i would change the password but i can;t log in.

thanks that did it. previously i had forgotten to set md5. but now when i add a new post the link doesn’t work when i preview it or post it and click on read more. instead i get a quasi web page of my index page with out the right visual’s. ie text links instead of a menu bar etc.. my co webmaster put a folder in my wp folder that had test files for the wp. but i don’t think that would interfere or would it.
