• When I try to log in at “example.com/wp-login.php” (which loads fine and is the way I always log in), I only get a “No data received” error in Chrome 26, a blank white page in Safari 6.0.3, a “Connection was reset” error in Firefox 19.0.2, and a “Connection closed by remote server” error in Opera 12.14. I can’t get in to do anything! Everything was working fine yesterday and I did nothing (no updates or changes to files or anything) between then and now.

    Checklist:
    -Yes, my internet works. I can load other (non-cached) sites with no issue.
    -I cleared my cache, reset browsers, reset computer, reset wifi, tried on another computer with a different operating system and a different ISP– still no luck.
    -I tried deleting cookies, checking that cookies were enabled– still no luck.
    -No, this problem is not limited to one wordpress site. I manage 10 (not multisite; they’re separate). I’m getting the same errors on all. And no, not all 10 sites are on the same server, or even the same hosting provider.
    -I tried to think of plugins that I might use on all sites that could be causing this, but there are none i can think of.

    I don’t know what else to check!! Please help. Thanks.

  • Possibly, your site is quite OK, as I have seen similar complaints at other places that some servers are facing problems.

    However, as a test, you can deactivate all your plugins and revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if it helps.

    Thank you both for your prompt replies, but Krishna: it’s 10 sites and that’s a lot of work to just troubleshoot when there appears to be many other users popping up with the same problem. You could be right, but I’m wondering if I should wait in case someone else realizes this problem is not related to plugins or themes…

    Rajesh, as I stated in my initial post, I tried your suggestions before posting without success. We’d all have a more efficient and helpful forum experience if: 1.) we ruled out obvious troubleshooting steps on our own, and 2.) if we actually read the user’s post before replying…

    There are MANY other people experiencing this same kind of problem today – where is your site hosted?

    Many sites. Some godaddy, some network solutions.

    Both of those have been mentioned by other people – GoDaddy now has an alert posted – check their alert page.

    Great- thank you yogi. Glad someone up the ladder is “investigating.” (that’d be Godaddy) Also glad it’s not wordpress at fault! (hopefully)

    Both of them seem to be facing problems. I would suggest to wait and watch. That is why I did not insist on trouble shooting.
