Can't log in after uploading my site to wordpress!!!!

    First of all, I am dutch, so my english isn’t perfect, sorry for that.

    I have a problem. First i have to explain how i’ve got to this point. I want my own webshop so i have to make a website. At first i used a program that didn’t do it for me, so my brother in law offered to help. He is still learning but he works for a hosting company and his boss wanted him to learn wordpress 3.9.1. So they said they would help me make my webshop. (helping in the way of making their software available.) They bought a theme for me (theme: Total) and they explained how wordpress works. So a month ago i started making my website and everything went well untill…

    Monday i decided that it was time to buy a hosting pakkage with hosting2go.nl. There was a manual that i scrictly followed. The manual said that i had to download the latest version of wordpress, so i did. Then it said i had to upload it to my FTP (filezilla), it said i needed to upload the complete map (after editing the wp-config-sample to a wp-config with the right valuables) to /httpdocs, so i did this also. after this the manual said i needed to go to mydomain.com/wordpress to register with a websitetitle, username and password, after i completed everything i logged in and it worked, i’ve got the same software as my brother in laws company worked with so i was happy.

    Now comes the part were it becomes to difficult for me. A co-worker of my brother in law, who had more knowlegde about wordpress send me an email with the complete website in a map called dump_’here a couple of numbers’ and he also typed an instruction how to upload or import my (allready made) website. He said when i installed wordpress and was logged in i had to instal a new plugin called ‘all-in-one migration’. I installed and activeted it, like he said. then he said i needed to go to the menu and look for “site migrate”, i found it in the menu and i clicked on import, like he said. I just needed to put the complete map in the import screen, so i did. It took a minute or 2 to upload it 100%. After the upload i went to take a look on the site and everything worked and was there. Then i went back to wordpress and i saw that the username was (Redacted) instead of (Redacted). So i logged out and when i wanted to log back in, it didn’t work. I tried it numerous times and after the last try i thought, maybe i need to log in with the account of my brother in law… so i did.. and Ofcourse, i was logged in.

    Every time i try to log in with my own account it says that he can’t log in because it is the wrong username or password. I want to work further on my site on my own account, but i just don’t know what i can do to log in… it just doesn’t accept the name and password like it did the first couple of times (before i imported the website this co-workerd send me). I have tried so many things i could think of… but nothing worked. How do i resolve this? Does anybody knows? Please help, i am getting crazy !!!

    And the username (Redacted. Please do not post user names, passwords or email addresses here.) is the username of my brother in law. To be clear.

    What happenes when you try and do a password reset? Does it say the user does not exist?

    The only thing I can really suggest, is to access phpmyadmin through your webhost.

    From there you can access the wp_users table and update the username and password through there. You’ll need to MD5 hash the password before storing back in PHPmyadmin tho.

    I would have a read through here. I wrote that blog posts for users who need help resetting the password via phpmyadmin.

    If all else fails and your not comfortable I would reach out to your host and let them know your having trouble. I’m sure they can reset the password for you.

    I have tried to reset my password. But still i will only log in with my brother in laws account. I allready looked in my PHPAdmin and i found that the user was (Redacted), but i am so new to this all that i didn;t change or delete it.. because i don’t know i that will effect his profile? If i change it to my own profile.. i don’t delete his one permanently? I am going to read you read through now. Thanks!

    You really need to just grab the user name, and then update the password field using the MD5 hashed password (the link is provided in that post I linked too).

    Don’t change the username, just remember it for logging in purposes. After you enter the MD5 hashed password you can save it and login using the standard string password.

    Thank you but i still have a problem i think. I can not mess with the account of my brother in law. He has that account for his work and when i go in PHPAdmin and go to wp_user there is only one user and that is the one of my brother in law, also his work email is there. But the account i made today is nowhere to be found…. Maybe i am a bit slow but i am not sure what to do exactly now.. do i need to change the account of him or is there another problem that came up when i uploaded my website via the plugin… Because my username and password are not there anymore after i uploaded the site… So if i reset the password on the only user that is there.. am i not changing the password of his profile?

    and when i do have to change the password i will do it the way you described in the link you send.

    What is your domain name? Your brother in law should not be in your database so it sounds like you are logging in to the wrong site. You should be logging into https://www.hosting2go.nl/ to reach your database.

    It can take new accounts up to 48 hours to work.

    Just add a new user with admin rights and it’s still there delete the old one.

    The manual says after uploading wordpress in my FTP i have to go to https://www.chocoladewereld.com/wordpress/ it automaticaly makes the url https://www.chocoladewereld.com/wordpress/wp-admin

    There i got a screen to register with my websitetitle, my username and my new password. I filled in everything and then it sended me to the same adresss again only this time with the wordpress login screen (i recognized it because i allready worked with wordpress with the work account of my brother in law) So i logged in, and it worked. I was the only user to find in the wordpress menu, but then i had to upload this file called dump_’here some numbers’ trhough a plugin, so i imported it and after that i couldn’t login anymore.

    Last night i checked in my database again and when i go to structure and then to wp-users, the only user there is my brother in law. It uploaded the database from the map i imported and i don’t know how but it took over everything including the account of my brother in law. I just tried it again and it still doesn’t work, but there isn’t 48 hours passed yet. But I don’t understand one thing.. i allready logged in with my own account and i got in… so how can it take 48 now if it allready worked?

    Final.. i logged in to both sites, to my domain..www.chocoladewereld.com/wordpress/wp-admin and https://www.hosting2go.nl (from here i went to my PHPAdmin and had to login to this database)

    Please tell me what i am doing wrong.
