• Hi

I was having a problem with the WP All Import Plugin and so contacted my hosting company to try and fix the problem. They suggested that I add this line to my wp_config.php file –

    define(‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’, true);

Unfortunately I am not very technically minded and added this line to the WordPress Admin Panel instead under Dashboard/Appearance/Editor/Config.php

Now I can’t login to the WP Dashboard to remove it. Can you please help?

    Thanks

    Keith

  • Hello Keith,

First make a backup of your site and then try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

You have edited a theme file instead of a WordPress config file wp-config.php
You may need to edit that config.php file in your active theme to remove that line.
It can be done by ftp login.

I have several wordpress sites and I cannot login to any of them any more. I just deleted wp from one site and recreated it at https://www.frankpalmerphotography.com and I still cannot login to it.

As I said, none of my sites will let me in and the login is now a pop-up instead of a page. I am assuming this is a recent (within the last year) to WP.

There is a server side login is enabled on your server before entering to WordPress login screen.

Ask you host to disable that if you want the pop up removed.
    Or
Enter following to pop up field:
    Username: stlvyo
    Password: 23

Once entered you will be redirected to WordPress login screen.
